Again you fail to actually state what makes Sian sexist. You basically claimed sexism 3 times and haven't brought up proof. I've actually asked you for an example but you flat out ignored me.

Yeah, pretty much this. I saw the clip of the "pool" scene, as well as the clip of Geralt and Triss waking up in the tent. You see ALL of Triss, every inch of her stripper's body. The camera lingers over her curves, and you can practically hear the "cameraman" masturbating. Do you ever see Geralt's weiner? NOPE. Not that I'd want to, but it would make the pandering at least somewhat equitable. He's even wearing PANTS in the tent scene, if I remember correctly. In the pool scene, Triss' clothes magically disappear as the camera tracks over her assets, and then she and Geralt do it doggie style. Woohoo, that's character development folks. :pinched:

It's not meant to be character development, it's meant to be sex between freinds. Why does Sex have to equal romance? It doesn't. And showing Geralt's legendary third sword is not going to happen.

And what's the point of sitting there watching these two digital avatars get it on? And on and on and on? Why devote so much time and digital resources to these extended scenes? There's no gameplay, it's just a long cutscene with no input from the player. What's the POINT?

The point is it's a culmination of a decision by the player, just like it is in Mass Effect. You can't string a player along with a compelling romance, and then give them a fade to black. That is weak.

Why not? "Blueballs"? Seriously, I don't need to see movie and TV character grunt and grind for five minutes to clue in to the fact that they're totally doin' it, and I certainly don't need it from game characters. I don't see how those scenes add ANYTHING to the game except to arouse the player, if the player is male. I can't imagine any woman being aroused by this crap.

Oh GIVE ME A BREAK. You don't really believe that, and neither do I. Obvious ****** fodder is obvious.

Only to you it seems and maybe a few supporters. Sorry but I am old enough to know the difference.

Your '****** fodder' as it were, a horny teen will ****** to probably fully clothed women if has pretty face I am pretty sure a lot of horny boys which you imply would be just as inclined to '******' at ME's sex scenes or even Miranda's arse. Doesn't take nudity to this group of fappers you keep implying exist in order to get their ****** on. TW2 sex scenes are no more ****** fodder than Miranda's arse of Jacks leather tight outfit. I am glad CDPR treated me as adult enough to know that relationships have sex and sex is part of life with or without love involved, because I'm old enough to know it's true and mature enough to not get turned on by fictional characters in a game.

No, I didn't read anything you wrote, and I don't care. And I'll "dare" say anything I want to say. Again, go jump in a lake if you don't like it. For what it's worth, I never said anything about ALL men doing anything or liking anything. And I certainly never singled YOU out. So, the lake is that way.

None of the sex in ASoIaF is pointless. None of it is particularly erotic, either; all of it is very brief and to the point and stops as soon as it accomplishes what it's meant to accomplish. The sex scenes you'd see in actual erotica are a lot different in tone and structure.

I read that post before and Sian is mostly talking about young immature horny males not all males in general. Plus Sian isn't the only person male or female who singles out that small group of males. Most people blame them fore how ME2 turned out (for some idiotic reason) but it isn't bashing the entire sex. Personally I rather people stop throwing that around but in some situations it does actually work.

Well there was that lesbian scene in the show with Petyr explaining his whole political and psychological tactics that just went on and on and I didn't really want to see it for a long time, and yet I wanted to hear him. Problem is they were moaning, somewhat louldly while he is talking.

That for instance, annoyed me much more than what's in TW.

You should know as female that not all females feel the same way about sex as yourself just like not all males do.

And you're suggesting that The Witcher 2 is more like actual erotica? If so, allow me to laugh.

what would you call a male that tries (and suceeds) to get into a pants (or skirts or whatever else)  of practicaly every female creature he comes across?    I didn't say he was stereotypical (though he does havea great deal of James Bond to him)  I said he likes to have sex with a lot of women and apparently they just cannot resist him.. I'd say virile works here.  he can sure keep it up a lot O_O

you know having actualy seen that scene with Triss?  it doesn't show the buildup of passion, it doesn't show that they were starving for each other, coudln't get enough of each other.  it doesn't look much different from his sex scenese with every random female he can boink, except this time? its Triss.  that scene? could work just as well as a desperately passionate kiss followed by fade to black.

Zevran uses sex for a lot of purposes, pure pleasure, to accomplish goals, to get closer to marks.  he tells us about it, we learn a little more about him... but we never waste our time actualy watching him do it and he doesn't gointo detailed accounts of every single thrust, he starts occasionaly... when his purpose is to make someone feel uncomfortable.  its not even just the fact that he's a very sensual guy, its HOW he tells you about it.

extended scene that you just sit back and watch for minutes and minutes and minutes and more minutes.. I'm sorry as much as you'd like to claim that it denotes maturity and hewlps the story?  it doesn't.  its just there to take up space and resources.

That wasn't actually in the book. HBO put that in as a backdrop to a long exposition scene whose information is spread out more in the actual book.

The one with "I support Barbie Shepard" wants to talk about maturity?

The sex scene as it is lasts 4 mins then there's a pretty damned serious conversation between Geralt and Triss.

Hey look, it's this thread again.

I really hope BioWare has enough class not to emulate the male-gaze, pandering-to-teenage-boys, soft-porn style of "romance" that Witcher 2 exemplifies. Every time somebody points to those cheesy scenes as "mature", I'm immediately clued in that the person is a) male and B) pretty young and/or immature. Seriously, as a woman I found those Witcher 2 scenes to be borderline offensive the way they objectified Triss, who is on full display, while simultaneously pulling the Austin Powers camera gag where Geralt's naughty bits are always obscured. And the moaning and panting soundtrack is just HILARIOUS. Seriously, kids, I'm sure you find better ****** fodder out there.

I agree with you about the scene... but not the way you approached the conversation. I will be dead in a motherf***ing gutter before I allow any sexist man hate go on without some form of reprisal.

As a response for the first two highlighted parts: Some women actually like that kind of stuff. I have heard about Danielle Steele books and they are generally geared more towards women. So you shouldnt speak for all women. In addition that proves that this tends to be directed towards men... but you once again left out the fact out that women may in fact play Witcher 2 and you dont know thei opinions on this scene. So you spoke for all like a jackass that is used to generalizing things.

Then you automatically bring in "****** fodder"? Thats just digusting to bring into a public conversation... even if it was to prove a point.

Some women may see Triss as attractive and seeing her naked may be a little arousing. Is it something they would want to see all the time in a game? Probably not since they play a game for reasons other than getting aroused.

I see. Still pretty annoying, and the show is not immune to double standard either. Gay sex is not shown nearly as much as lesbian sex. Doesn't stop it from being great imo. So yea, maybe TW is complicit in something mostly everyone does.

That scene annoyed me more however, because as weird as it may sound to many, I'd rather listen to political cunning and wisdom undisturbed rather than watch hot girl on girl action.

Very true, on top of that correct me if I'm wrong but you can skip those scenes at the press of a button if not mature enough to handle nudity? Been a while since loaded up the game.

I for one am glad CDPR treats me with enough respect regarding sexual relationships of a main protaganist in a game that it doesn't feel the need to hold my hand and put on kid gloves by force, yet at the same time allowing to skip if you require such gloves.

I don't like when this stuff happens to men either. Why do you think so many people were annoyed with the Jacob romance? The way femshep talks to Jacob, the ridiculous way Jacob's model was built to highlight his abs, the romance scene at the end that was so cheesy that it is only known for all its stupid catchphrases. Bioware has made mistakes, too. That said, they really are the only company I've seen that has a done romance anywhere close to the level other entertainment like movies and TV are at.
