Hey look, it's this thread again.
I really hope BioWare has enough class not to emulate the male-gaze, pandering-to-teenage-boys, soft-porn style of "romance" that Witcher 2 exemplifies. Every time somebody points to those cheesy scenes as "mature", I'm immediately clued in that the person is a) male andpretty young and/or immature. Seriously, as a woman I found those Witcher 2 scenes to be borderline offensive the way they objectified Triss, who is on full display, while simultaneously pulling the Austin Powers camera gag where Geralt's naughty bits are always obscured. And the moaning and panting soundtrack is just HILARIOUS. Seriously, kids, I'm sure you find better ****** fodder out there.
I agree with you about the scene... but not the way you approached the conversation. I will be dead in a motherf***ing gutter before I allow any sexist man hate go on without some form of reprisal.
As a response for the first two highlighted parts: Some women actually like that kind of stuff. I have heard about Danielle Steele books and they are generally geared more towards women. So you shouldnt speak for all women. In addition that proves that this tends to be directed towards men... but you once again left out the fact out that women may in fact play Witcher 2 and you dont know thei opinions on this scene. So you spoke for all like a jackass that is used to generalizing things.
Then you automatically bring in "****** fodder"? Thats just digusting to bring into a public conversation... even if it was to prove a point.
And amazingly, I STILL don't care what you think. Lake's that way.
Interesting how we can't have a civil conversation in any form on these forums.

And you're suggesting that The Witcher 2 is more like actual erotica? If so, allow me to laugh.ipgd wrote...
The sex scenes you'd see in actual erotica are a lot different in tone and structure.
It's not like sex in erotica can't also be meaningful, but if you compare Martin's handling of the sex scenes in comparison to typical erotica scenes it's fairly obvious their purpose isn't primarily to titillate. Sometimes precisely the opposite, lol hello everything theon ever does, lol hello cersei's bloody ******.
I haven't actually played TW2 so I can't comment on how meaningful its sex scenes are, but I hate any sex scenes that involve 3D models on principle. Including Bioware's. God, especially Bioware's. I WANT them to do fade to black.

And?
All I can say is...SIGH. I do have to wonder if they actually feel that way, or if there's something else going on. I'd also like to know their ages.
The one with "I support Barbie Shepard" wants to talk about maturity?
The sex scene as it is lasts 4 mins then there's a pretty damned serious conversation between Geralt and Triss.
Don't care.
I have to wonder though, is anyone else in this thread over 40? Or even over 30? Am I just talking to teens and twentysomethings?

I been refused many times in that game.. Some of those hoes aren't cheap.
But they are still hoes
World is full of them even ours. But shouldn't exclude them from games just because scared of reprisal from certain sections of the media and forums. If it's an adult rated game which has romances and specifically story that involves more mature theme of suxual romances rather than just romance alone, then having such scenes respects the player to be mature enough to handle it or option to skip at press of button for those who can't.

LOL. You must really not know what sex is if you think Witcher's brief cutscene was a "sex simulator".
I guess its fine for every other form of entertainment to show nudity but a game? Oh no its porn.
We know you hate CDProjekt for some stupid reason but to accuse their game of being porn is stupid. Bioware ****s out Miranda, Isabella, Samara and even sexed up Liara and Ashely. But they get a pass right?

It's nothing new. If somebody thinks they can bully me by calling me "sexist" and dictate what I will and won't say, they have another think coming. I'm a middle-aged woman, I'm not going to let ANYONE bully me. He picked the wrong woman to tangle with.

Age has little to do with maturity, as you just adequately showed us right now.

Don't care.
Good for you, anything you would like to add? Perhaps you even played the game to know what that romance actually is about.
How often do we get to see women's ****** on TV shows and little of men's genitals ( in all those shows I saw them it was mere seconds at best ). I sure bet that's sexit...or perhaps those shows would get bloody BANNED if they tried anything more then that.
The Witcher 2 is pushing it already with what it shows, you honestly think the game was going to pass any board with an M rating if they had shown Geralt's genitals?

Then respond back instead of just telling someone go jump in a lake. It is quite possible that person misread your post and you should be attempting to explain to the accuser that you weren't being sexist. By saying that person should go jump in the lake doesn't help the matter it further in flames it.

I assumed that was your point as I never compared Martin's writing to erotica. I compared his writing to The Witcher 2 in an attempt to show that it wasn't erotica as much as par for the course. Neither qualifies as erotica as far as I'm concerned. Apparently we agree on that.ipgd wrote...
Where did I say that?
Being rather obsessive about aesthetics myself I guess I can see the point in that. Dragon Age: Origins in particular was downright horrible to look at. I'll never forget my character's distorted sexface as Morrigan violated him. That said, I thought some of the scenes in The Witcher 2 were worth experiencing if only for the exquisite settings and mesmerizing effects. Watching Triss strip with magic wowed me similar to how I was wowed the first time when I stepped into the portal to the shivering isles albeiton a lesser scale. It was just pleasant to look at.ipgd wrote...

Not sure if submissive is the right word to represent romance but I guess its subjective.

Yes I am 31 but the majority of BSN is 17-27 (I did poll). Sex is part of life, sex is especially important in real life relationships that when a game grants the audience the maturity to 'see' or 'skip' (yet still not be hardcore) then it's more mature than one afraid to do the former.

There is nudity and there is gratuitous nudity. The Witcher falls into the latter category. If you can't see that, then there is no hope for you and you might as well go find a Japanese H-Game to play.

No you started with the wrong man... I dont let hate speech go against any group of people... man, woman, black, white... whatever. Sexism disguised as femenism is still sexism.

Thirty-five. Married for over ten years. I have a young daughter.
One girlfriend, who became my wfie, and have been with her (and only her) for just shy of twenty years. Never considered leaving her, cheating on her, whatever.
Does that matter to you? Does it make my opinion more or less valid?
Because I'd argue that 70, 50, 30, or 12 - you can have reasonable, rational discussions without logical fallacies and emotional outbursts.
Just like you can be 8, 18, 68, or 80 and be irrational, overly-opinionated, combative and rude.
Age, as you are using it, is an ad hominem.

The post is a joke not to be taken serious.
Also just because someone doesn't want to see animated characters get it on doesn't mean they can't handle it. Hell sometimes I skip ME sex scenes because I want to get back to the gameplay or actual dialog.
