Yeah, I deleted my entire draft after I realized this. Basically, ME3 doesn't need the borderline softcore porn that was in TW2 (nor the somewhat immature dialogue leading up to it). I know Bioware can be tasteful with their romance scenes. ME1's set the bar, ME2's removed the nudity but improved the cutscenes. The only scene in ME2 I felt needed more work was Liara's (Shepard brushing his hand against her butt and her eyes flashing black as the scene cuts out was a bad way to end it. At least have them in a kissing embrace before the slow fade to black). It's totally Bioware's choice on how they want to handle their romance scenes. All I ask is that they do them well (please, no DAO dry-humping in underwear. If you're going to go that far to censor the nudity, just stick with fades-to-black) and, like a previous poster mentioned, give us some stuff leading up to it (ie: a kiss every now and then, a massage, an embrace, etc).Omega4RelayResident wrote...

Honestly even if you argue your head off now it wont change what they already put in there. Simple.
Bioware READ! you got dethroned in Romance: Projekt RED is beating you at your own game:

This is pointless. We don't need porn in video games. If I want porn I'll go watch porn. I like romance and I'd like to see the ME1 style of Romance return where the culmination is something sweet like how femshep/liara romance scene played out. No real pornography, something just plain sexy instead.

And get those damn kids off your lawn.

Well yes they do have some but most of it is nudity and sex. Sadly the nudity and all the cursing overshadowed the rest. For me at least. I think I take another Carth like romance any day over anything they put into Witcher 2.
Same goes for Jacob by the way. The picture a few posts above just reminds me of how much I hate Shepard when she talk to that guy.

A mature game with machiavellian politics and well established lore and character development set in a gritty medieval world actually has sex in it? Oh my God!

No, it's not.
For you, it overshadowed. Not for me, TW2 is more mature to me than all the Bioware games I've played.

I don't think you had to engage in sexual activity in The Witcher 2 at all, plus you were already in a relationship with Triss at the begining of the game, so how the central themes of TW2 revolve around sex is beyond me. It certainly doesn't sanatize it, but having two points where the intercourse takes place in a 45+ hour game doesn't seem to focus on sex.

Indeed, it's quite idiotic to claim that the game was about sex, to be blunt.

It's basically softcore porn. There was no point other than LOL LOOK AT THE NUDE LADY.
I'm not exactly puritanical, but I reaaally don't need that in my Mass Effect.
Seriously, I am neither aroused nor offended. Therefore, the scene was a waste.
Although the bit with the statues and the dwarf made me giggle.

Forsooth. I find that the more often a game boasts about how 'mature' it is in its marketing, the more often it's actually targeted at 11 year old boys wanking furiously to pirated copies of Bonetown. Appropriately, that's also the level of emotional development of the target audience of the witcher series as well as the entire cd project dev team. 'Mature' really becomes a marketing euphemism that sounds classier than 'lol boobies.'

Of course, brilliant analysis.
The game is certainly made to emotionally undervelopped wankers.
Well done for your very astute observation and intellectual contribution to the thread.

I've never seen a more perfect example of fan service than this one.

You don't have to do it. If they do it, it's because you made Geralt do it.

In addition the woman, Triss, and Geralt are already in a relationship, this does not happen until about a third of the way through the game and you can have a relationship with Triss in TW1. Before the events take place there is exposition on lore and regarding roses and loved ones. A little bit of information to give some context.

I don't think you know what fanservice is.
Bioware doesn't need to adopt CDPR's approach to romance, it would be out of place in their games. But it would be nice if they tried putting more content that is strictly for adults instead of muddling about in Harry Potter territory.

Just seems shallow to me. I mean, I dig The Witcher 2. I can't wait to play it when it hits 360.. but I dunno if I'd call the sex scenes "romance".. more of trysts than anything. I doubt any of them actually had any real meaning, unlike the Mass Effect ones, unless it's the Renegade approach to Jack of course.
All in all, I have to echo what others have said. ME1 skin + ME2 emotions = Perfect scenes.
