In all of the Witcher 1 & 2 relationships is there any emotional risk to the hero?

What's wrong with souless, casual sex?

I believe that was covered in the first sentence. It is not romance, nor romantic.

But people are looking for romance where there isn't any. There's sex in TW2, lots of it. There is very little romance in the game. These are all predefined characters CDPR is working with, and Geralt likes to sleep around; hell, his main love hasn't even made an appearance yet. Should Bioware take this approach? No. It's counter to the way they write characters. Should they show skin and more realistic sex scenes? Hell yes. Having people cuddling in their armor is a joke and I hope they don't do that in ME3.

That's all fine and dandy, but the thing is that the OP was outlandishly stating that by simple virtue of having explicit sex scenes, one game had a better portrayal of romance than the other.

I for one have nothing against casual sex or explicit sex scenes, I'd welcome them in any BW game (provided it's done well... which I doubt it would). But if someone is going to say that the inclusion of that stuff instantly means "BETTER ROMANCE!" (what the OP is doing), yeah, I'm gonna call that out as crap.

EDIT:

No, Must of the time it's just Geralt showing off his pimp juice.

But i guess it's open to interpretations...

EDIT: Oh yeah, when you choose a Romance (between triss and shani) the other gets mad and dumps you, but not a lot more.

Well, you have to choose between Triss or Shani, and when you do so, the spurned one gets catty as hell.  Especially Shani, she wants nothing more to do with you.

If I understand you correctly, yes.
TW1 romance is tied to a choice dilema, where imo the rational choice is pretty obvious but it might jeapordize the relationship with one of the romances.

In TW2, there is also a choice at the end, of either saving her or doing something else. Ultimately she is saved anyways, but Geralt of course doesn't know that would happen.

I disagree. My Geralt didn't sleep around, and since he remembers nothing of Yennefer, she doesn't qualify as his man love anymore.

"Ahem" Succubus was exactly what then Knight?

Let's look at the facts. ME 1and ME2 were Rated M for MATURE audiences. All we got was some fade out scenes (kinda good in my opinion) in me1 and terrible, laugh material dry-humping scenes in me2. Now I understand that the game must appeal to both genders and children (even though they shouldn't be allowed to play it in the first place), but the sex scenes (yes, they are sex scenes, not romance scenes), should have more mature content than children are allowed to see. Why can't we have both great romance AND erotic scenes (done stylishly of course, frontal nudity not nessesary)?

No, that would imply that Geralt had emotions to risk.

My response has already been covered twice before. Not much I can do beside +1 Zjar and hoorayforicecream. You are one of the few responders taking this stance. If that is how you felt about that scene, more power to you. We all form our own opinions. But the OP and a majority of TW2 supporters here are claiming there is an emotional connection between Geralt and Triss suggestive of something more than casual bonking.

Geralt loves Triss. If you would care to watch the conversation Geralt has with Triss after the whole sex scene you would realize it's quite deep.

There could be, yes.
But I already said, I felt it was average. Better than the romances in ME2 (Miranda, Tali) and DA2 (Isabela) because I didn't feel anything at all and I was utterly oblivious to whether they lived or died. But still average and I like it that way, I prefer to focus on what I deem as much more important things.

It's deep for Triss, if she is indeed being sincere. Whether it's important to Geralt is up to the player. There can potentially be no emotional connection whatsoever, and the whole bath scene was nothing more than a romp.

Actually, no. There are romantic men in the world.

Protip: They get laid a lot more than the non-romantic men.

Bonus: The sex is better as well.

But cuddles are cute.

To be honest, I don't mind nudity.  Hell, it's required for my major to stare at naked people for hours on end.  But I don't want ME3's romance scenes to be all thrusting, moaning, and nipple shots.  Maybe I'm in the minority, but I just don't find that appealing.  I'd rather have something tender and honest-to-god intimate.  Fapfests feel... cheap.
