Alright, this really pissed me off, and I have no clue as to how it happened. basically; the conversation files I've been editing reset to a random point in time along their development. I loaded the mod folder and now everything I've done has been undone, the thing is, I know I've closed and saved and loaded it just fine with this information before. why the HELL is it all dissapearing. I put hours of work into this and now it's gone for no reason, I've always saved before exiting, and now even though it's loaded properly before all the scripts and files I made are back where they started weeks ago.

Maybe the newer versions are in your campaign folder?

revert to your daily backup.

Are you working in directory mode? The compression involved in module mode might be causing some problems.
Is autosave turned off?

I've had similar problems with areas, with older versions of areas showing up in the game, though not in the toolset. The way I fixed that was by copying the file, renaming the copy, deleting the old, and later re-naming the copy back to the 'right' name. Maybe the game keeps a cache somewhere, which doesn't always get properly updated.

No, I checked this already, they are not

Your solution to this issue is seriously to save and then copy every file somewhere else, all the time? I SAVED my files, I CANT imagine anyone else has to go through that kind of @#$% to save their progress.

I am in directory mod, the game autosaves occasionaly but on the few occasions i've canceled it. I usualy save all my progress with the Save command, which untill my recent attempt to access my files has worked fine. if the toolset keeps a cache somewhere, wouldnt it be easier to delete that?

Turn off the toolset Autosave option. It has long been known as something that screws up modules. Can't really suggest anything more about recovery that others have not already.

Yes. It appears to be a one off issue, as you indicate you're been working successfully. Backup takes only a minute, or less if you've a batch script or dedicated backup product that has one button backup.

You will learn the wisdom of regular backups the first time you have a significant data loss because you didn't.

okay, so the issue might be with autosave?
is there any way to keep it permanently off? i tried turning it off once and it turned on again randomly.

In the toolset, choose View -> Options. Under the General window there is a spot to turn Autosave off (set to False). If this is what you did already then this is the first time I have ever heard of it spontaneously turning itself back on.

Anyone who has used the toolset for any length of time makes regular backups. I tend to work in module mode rather than directory mode, and every time I make a major modification I right-click and drag to make a copy of the module file. At the end of each editing session, I then copy the latest version to a USB stick.

It's annoying, but not nearly as annoying as losing data. Unfortunately I learned to do this the hard way.
