So I just finished my Canon Mage Hawke playthrough and sided with the templars. I let Anders run away because I wanted to see what would happen, turns out You can let him go and Sebastion leaves as well. No big deal didn't need him anyways when I have Varric amirite?
Anywho I fought to the gallows and upon defeating the first batch of renegade mages and demons, Mr. Terrorist Mage is waiting for me after I let him live to live his life.
I guess if you pick the templars he dies either by a dagger in the back or in combat. I'm sure this has been brought up before but it seemed like a neat little thing to mention as I discovered it.
Anders in the end,

If he is at full rival, you can get him to help you annul the Circle. otherwise, yes, letting him go if you are supporting the templars, he will go and help defend the mages.

Yeah, fully rivaled Anders can be convinced to help with the annulment. If you let him go as opposed to killing him, he will always go help defend the mages. If you've sided with the mages, he's a non-party ally. With the templars, well, as you have found out, you fight him.
Regardless, getting rid of Sebastian is always worth it, regardless of what side you pick.

I'm guessing you killed her then? How does one kill Merril anyway? Is there an option before the Gallows to do so?
I missed Zev's cameo in my first playthrough, but I still had Nathaniel show up, which was pretty cool. Have to get Zev next time around.

No no She was still alive and kicking but as my non party companions started pouring in, Aveline then Fenris Merrill was afk.. THen outta no where that smooth elf assassin back stabed in and went to town. Was quite possibly the silliest playthrough i've done so far.
The game wouldn't make up its mind about who my LI was when I was clearly trying make it Izzy (canon after all) Even got her to admit her feelings and accepted yet when the credits rolled no one stayed with the champion.

I've heard the LI endings are bugged to hell. I don't remember which non-party companions I had in my last battle, I was too busy laughing to notice.
I think in my ending (I sided with the mages) both Anders and isabella left with the champion (had some sexytime with isabella before I ended up with Anders). Which works for me. Maybe isabella will take us to some nice uninhabited tropical paradise, and we can live happily ever after in a menage a' tois.

To Quote Varric from Legacy "The Day you go to a beach, there will be a pirate invasion." this only pops if you're a sarcastic Hawke.

I was wondering if you Kill Anders in the game is he mentioned at all in the DLC Legacy banter?

Legacy takes place prior to the final mission chronologically. If you killed Anders he won't be available in the party selection when you first start Legacy, but it takes place before you killed him in the game's storyline so they won't mention it. The games just acts like he's somewhere else like all the other party members you didn't bring with you to the fortress.
