For whatever reason after I switched to disc 2 of my new Ultimate edition it canceled the installation, now I can't install the game again as it says my registration code is invalid. What do I do?

Follow the guides among the stickied posts. You question is very old, very frequently repeated, very frequently already answered.

If the answer is somewhere I can't find it, I had already checked. The problem is that it won't let me attempt to install it again as you can't get past the product key code part, and now it says that it is invalid, (I had entered it the first time I attempted installation) I can't install the game.

1) Check really really really really well on your code, making sure you are entering the correct code(not promos or special offers but the actual license code) and make sure you are entering the correct letters and numbers. Sometimes it is easy to confuse a number for letter and vice versus.

2) Use a registry cleaner to make sure all instances of DAO have been removed. Make a backup of your system/save point before editing.

IF this doesn't work, post back here and include some machine specs.

What does a registry cleaner do exactly and do you have any suggestions for a reliable site/place to get it?

For future reference, I'm on Vista (Yeah, yeah I've heard), Nvidia geforce GT 22OM, Intel core 2 duo.

A long time poster on here, Bogs usually recommend CCleaner or I think Gary's Cleaner both IIRC are available over at CNet. I tried CCleaner on an XP machine just before the hardware self-destructed requiring a rebuild, and it seemed to do a decent job. But be very careful and make sure you have a restore/backup BEFORE you do anything, that way hopefully if it borks your machine you can just restore and try something else.

How many digits is the registration code you are entering?? If it isn't 20 digits it is the wrong code, and you are trying to enter the promo code.

I don't know why it would pop an invalid code if you are entering the right one, unless it did in some way bork the registry.....wouldn't be my first thought though.

I'm definitely entering the right code, I had entered it once already and it worked fine, but since the installation got cancelled (still not sure how, it told me to switch discs and I did, I've installed other games in the past and it has been fine), it won't let me install it again as the product key now comes up as invalid. This is pretty annoying, and embarrassing to be frank.

Just for stupid kicks and giggles, have you triple checked to make sure you computer can run the game and is at least at min specs?? If it isn't at min, it may cancel install, but that doesn't tell me why it says the code is invalid.

Yeah I've used 'Can You Run It' for any game I've purchased before hand. Is this just looking like I'm going to have to email the support people? I had no idea the product key could only be used once if that is the case.

Product key can be used multiple times within reason...
Can you run it, is wrong as much as it is right, so you may want to browse the sticky or post your specs here to verify.

Oh, and DON'T use the email support, go for the online chat/live chat mode instead....EA and email tends to mean long waits as in days/weeks.  If you don't get much help from one tech, wait a day and try again, it seems that there is a great variance in tech knowledge.

Also keep an eye on this thread, becasue Sami Jo may stop in later and she might have a better idea, as in she may have seen this before and know how to correct.  She laughs at me for pointing at her to know how to fix stuff but so far I have rarely seen her wrong, ie never, when she answers.  If she doesn't know, she will usually keep quiet or point you in a better direction to find answers.

Thanks for all the information you have given, I'm definitely going to have to get this resolved one way or another.

FYI: the clean up utility is linked in the solutions round-up thread at the top of this forum.

but isn't it likely to remove other stuff that I might not want removing?

You get to choose what you want to remove, it asks about the stuff without just doing it....iirc. That is part of the reason I sad to create a save/restore point.  Heck if you had a recent restore point you could just role back to it...but people never do, not even me....lol, maybe I should.......
