Let me specify that I'm female and not a lesbian.

And I did do a search of this question before asking it, but I didn't see any similar threads.

I just started DAII recently, and I was kind of shocked at how overtly sexual Bethany is, knowing that hetero dudes in the audience are probably going to respond to the way she looks. It's not just that she's attractive, but that she shoves the good in your face 24/7. If she wore a high-necked dress I would have just thought her a pretty girl and that's it, but with her outfit design she so blatantly screams sexuality that it's a little nauseating.

I mean, why do that for a character that you explicitly cannot bang?  Is it Bioware's way of tweaking the ears of their over-sexualized fanbase?  Or was it a deliberate appeal to a certain brand of kink?  Have the creators of the game made any comments about this topic?

I could understand this for Isabela, but Bethany? Bethany is fairly conservatively dressed and after act 1 even more so.

This, she shows off a some cleveage in Act 1 but after that she's pretty damn conservative. Isabela's a sleezy hoe so it's to be expected. I'm shocked she wears anything under that loincloth.

Well Isabella is both pantsless and ****** out, so yeah, she definitely crosses the nearly-naked threshold.

But Bethany is mising the top half of her shirt and is well-stacked. It's not like Bioware did that accidentally, they paid loving attention to the boob-view for their audience. The question is why they did this on a character that is "your" sister.

Agreed that she does get nicely covered up after act 1 (thank God). But that doesn't erase the blatant ****** in act 1.

Because bioware is trying to push their incest loving agenda on us. It's the only logical explanation. Seriously though, she probably just wanted to show them off, I have a sister, she sometimes shows off her cleveage. It infuriates me to no end, but there's nothing I can do.

It wouldn't even be as blatant if they just made her less stacked. But to put obvious fanservice on a sister character is just gross.

It would be like if in ME2, after paying such loving attention to Miranda's rear view and focusing the camera on it all the time, it turned out that Miranda is Shepard's sister or something. It's a bit creepy.

The way she dresses in Act 1 is definitely not in line with her personality.

Yeah you are right lol. I only pay attention on personality than looks. Tbh i never really have any thought about her outfit until after she join The Grey Warden. I like when she dresses with Grey Warden Uniform.

I don't think her outfit is "sexual" at all. She's wearing a blouse, leggings, and chainmail. Pretty well covered. She does have a bit of cleavage, even though as pointed out above, her chest is actually smaller than all other human females, but so what? I am a sister, and have been known to wear clothes that I like, not worrying about what my brothers will think of me. It's crazy.

I'm guessing it depends on the look you choose for your Hawke, by my "sister" looks like this, not like the image posted above:



She doesn't have the 'smallest breasts in the game', she has boobs about the same size as Isabella's, maybe a little smaller but Isabella has the hugest boobs in the game, that hardly makes Bethany's 'small'.

And I didn't say she was a ****, I said that she's made sexually overt for no reason I can fathom. Fan service is fan service. You can pretend it doesn't exist, or act like it wasn't on purpose, but you'd be naive.

However I guess my question is answered in that no one has replied that Gaider addressed this issue in any remarks about the game. So it's just a big, creepy mystery.

Uh, it is?  She's completely covered and has pants on. If your problem is that she has a low neckline, well, I'm not really sure whatever problem it is you have with low necklines. A boatneck shirt on a real life human girl is fairly similar to what Bethany is wearing. And she is most certainly not "stacked" unless you use a mod.
