tbh, I'm a bit more irked about why it was Leandra who ended up with a massive set.

I mean ... why?

Well, the writing wasn't going to make us feel close to our family members...apparently the icky attraction we were supposed to feel toward them was going to make up for it? :P

I'm more bugged by Carver's lack of armour.

I wonder if Bioware will ever give a reason behind the huge ****** in Thedas.

I mean, I pretty much jumped for joy the first time I played ME2 with a femshep when I realised that she actually didn't have massive jugs like DA characters.

@alex90c

I think something must have changed in the water. It apparently turned all the ta-tas to watermelons, made the darkspawn cute and cuddly, and killed off all the female dwarves. It's sad, really.

While we're on the subject, chainmail is heavy.  Now someone will tell me that the force of gravity doesn't work the same in Thedas, and that the same mystical force that is keeping Bethany's bodice in place (form fitted to what must be a tiny waist) simultaneously causes the ladies to lift and separate.  Funny how that works.

It's a game. Armor is meaningless. I've posted a picture numerous times of my Hawke being impaled by three Tal'Vashoth lances, two through the chest, and still on her feet and running to face the enemy. Funny how that mystical force works. (And, as an aside, if anyone is dissecting Bethany's bosom to the point where they can see lift and separation in such small chesticles, then that person is spending way too much time dissecting Bethany's bosom.)

That would be bulk of the male playerbase, then.

I always liked how blood mages impale themselves with their own staves to no detrimental effect.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd hit up on Bethany. She's smoking.

But in real news, artists are going to make characters more easy on the eyes. Because sadly, we live in a world where if someone looks weird or distasteful, some people don't like that person.

It's the same reason why reasonably attractive actors are chosen for roles in movies. Or why a graphic design is meant to catch your eye.

It's not that Bethany is being sexualized, it's that Bethany is being made to look like a pretty young woman. Just like most epic fantasy male protagonists are usually made into: a handsome young man.

I highly doubt the artists were like, 'OMG hawt hawke's sister. lolz-N-chitty-bang-bang.'

EDIT: Because I'm awesome.

Which is why I want to see a fat Orlesian mage in Dragon Age 3.  Who wears a funny hat and complains all the time.  And romancable.  Why?  Because not every character needs to be of a certain "type".  I have nothing against it, but it would just be...interesting and unexpected.

Fat, whiny, lazy Orlesian mage for DA 3.  Someone make me a banner....Posted Image

Someone who really likes doing 'all' the work, I suppose.

I see Orlais as a place of great appetites. How often to we get companions who complain that they don't want to trek through the Brecillian Forest? I think it'd be awesome.

He should have one of those old lady fans to cool himself off. He should also think he's a lady's/man's man (if there was ever a character who SHOULD be bisexual...here's one.) And he should have little toy poodle he carries around with him.

"Go for ze ankles, Pierre!"

Sorry, I get carried away. ;)

I'd rather my sister be smoking hot than plain looking, thank you very much.

It shows off the good genes in my family.

I see.

Nobody would ever go into battle without being fully encased in steel.

Now who's being ridiculous?

Somewhere, rogue Hawke manages to scrape up some leather armor, and warrior Hawke even got over to the forge before heading to Ostagar.  Bethany must have put in an order for some chainmail and the armorer got halfway up and called it good.

Rouge Hawke is exposing more skin then both Bethany and Carver so how the **** is her outfit more practical than Bethany's?If anything only Warrior Hawke's outfit fits what seems to be your definition of practicality.

And I found Bethany and Merril's outfits far more practical then the mage dresses*seriously WTH? Who would seriously fight in a damn dress?*

PS: And I must say I find arguing over an outfit's practacality in battle in a video game to be ****ing hillarious.Posted Image

I'm not sure how you figure that.  Granted, I did put my rogue into scale armor asap, so I may not be remembering the outfit, but as I recall it was standard issue leather armor with leggings.  The bare arms are odd, and as someone pointed out, Carver has even less excuse to look like he just rolled out of Gold's Gym.

Do you see me touting mage dresses anywhere?  Apparently there is a level of "impracticality" that bugs you, too.

I do agree that Bethany's cleavage and exposure thereof is somewhere around #586 on the list of problems with DA2.

The legs are exposed too.

Not really it's a game*Yuna my fave FF character wears a dress in FFX though I DO think the mage=dress streotype is ridiculous* but I'll admit  it bugs me that with Mage Hawke your stuck with the default outfit till act 3 if you want to RP a battlemage or just not wear a dress .

I put mine in the clothing outfits and pretend it's leather armor.  I had a mod that changed the Spiral robes to those, and in act 2 there's one called Heavy Wool Robes at the Gallows.  Like what my PC is wearing here.  I was very glad they had some medium options for mages.

Why?  There isn't a reason under the sun why you can't make realistic good looking armour in a video game.  Point in fact Mass Effect did it, the armour in that game looks like futuristic combat armour...was it too hard to cosplay and this prompted the something else in ME2?

Most of the armour in DA:O/A is realistic...possibly why people complain about it.  A lot of the armour in DA 2 is realistic as well...but virtually every high level set (with the mage champion armour winning the prize) takes a level in "fantasy artwork."  And again there is no reason for this...much like there is no reason to include armour elements (missmatched pauldrons) from cavalry armour on foot plate.

Realistic or for that matter real armour looks extemely good.  A full set of maximillian plate is a wonder of artistry and metalwork.  So there is no reason to not argue about it in a video game, since it would be easy enough for the artists at Bioware to make every outfit both look sensible and look good.  These are not mutally exclusive.  I certainly can't stand seeing fantasy armour and weapons on my characters for the 100s of hours I am playing the game.  Also in the history of human warfare there have been virtually every concievable form of armour tried and/or used so there are lots of examples for inspiration.

There is no really good reason to have forgotten the shoulder straps for bethany's chain at the very least...or the sleaves on one robe which didn't seem to be connected to anything being connected so you aren't constantly wondering why they don't fall down.  Things like that are sloppy in my view especially given the level of detail there is in the armour, which clearly shows a great deal of care and attention was paid to it.
