yeah Deus Ex had terrible voice acting. Sorry. That game was a letdown too. It didn't have that much story to it.

DA2 will end up on many 'worst of the year' lists, noone would take a game of the year win seriously, even if it somehow happened.

In order for a game to win GOTY should it not at least be a game as opposed to an interactive movie. Should DA2 win "interactive movie masquerading as a game", of the year? Sure it was that most definately but DA2 was closer to movie than a game. Not quite as bad as that movie called Mafia 2 which was as far from a game and as close to a movie as one can get with out an intermission for popcorn and pee breaks. GOTY, "GAME" of the Year, and DA2 barely made the "game" category.

I really enjoyed DA2, but I can only see it getting nominations for Best Voice Acting (imo DA2 has some of the best VOs I ever heard) and I'm not even sure it would win that...Ellen McLain did a fantastic job with GLaDOS and Portal 2 was better received

Seriously, though, as much as I loved DA2, I doubt it'll win any. The only one that is possible is 'Best VA', and even that is unlikely. Unlike some, I don't think DA2 was a bad game, I think it was a very good game - I just think that all the elements that it did were also individually done better in other games. DX:HR and Portal 2 are both more likely from those I've played, L.A. Noire is also very good, but I haven't got far.

I love DA2, but the competition this year leaves it no chance. The Witcher 2 alone beats it as fantasy RPG.

I still love DA2 more because of the characters and artstyle, but it has objective flaws (the same cave all over again, waves of enemies, etc). It didn't bother me at all as I play games for the characters, but I see how these flaws prevent DA2 from getting awards.

And let's not forget about upcoming Skyrim which has the potential to wipe off all the competition.

With voice acting DA2 still has a chance as voicing is really great, but with all the negativity this game receives it is highly unlikely. There are other games with good voices that are better received, and thus they have better chances of getting recognized.

If DA2 wins RPG of the year, let alone Game of the Year, I will have to check BBC weather to see if Hell has indeed frozen over.

Simply put no, not with TW2 and Skyrim coming out, I don't think it has a chance.

DA2 still qualifies as an RPG with action elements and The simple fact is this: As an RPG with action elements it was worse received/ will be worse recieved than 2 games; Skyrim and Deus Ex. Skyrim because everyone in the gaming industry has had a hard on for it since 2007, and Deus Ex because almost everyone gave it 90's but gave DA2 80's. So no, I doubt it'll be a GOTY, it simply wasn't up to par. Which is sad.

Actually I once read...it does increase sells when the box is labeled with it.

Well sure, but what I meant was that GOTY awards aren't indicitive of quality. People talk about this as if there was some sort of official GOTY award when it's really just a bunch of websites telling people what games they liked the most.
