As long as he supports T-shirt time he's fine with me, oh and if he gets a headshot kill he should go "Aw yeah, headshot yeah!"

It does sound a bit bland and uninteresting but then again a lot of previous characters in Bioware games sound uninteresting and bland until you've seen them in-game.

If James Vega acts all like 'I'VE LIVED A TOUGH LIFE AND SEEN THINGS UVE NEVR EXPERIENCED B4, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE ME, I DRINK HEAPS OF ALCOHOL IN MY SPARE TIME TO GET RID OF THE PAIN, I'M SO EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSED, GO AWAY I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT, OKAY FINE I NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOMETHING SHEPARD.' then I'll be unhappy

Did Bioware ever made some character a complete emo?

Jack.

If I get an event where I'm supposed to pull a virmire, I'm going to send Vega at the problem. Everyone, except Vega, wins.

He might need some help so I would send Ash with him just to make sure they deal with it.

Vega seems like he is very task oriented and capable. Obviously he is a good soldier or Anderson would not trust him. Anderson's approval mean a lot in my book, actually. And despite his problems and his issues he seems to be able to function fine.

Sure he ripped the tv off but offers to pay for it and also even tries to diffuse the Batarians.

He seems like a real soldier. Like guys I've hung out with. I had one friend of mine steal a bread truck and run it into a pond (he got discharged for that by the way). And I think it would be nice to have a real, human, career soldier (besides Ashley) in the group.

I'm actually more interested in the character now. I don't understand all the whining really. Lets wait til we see more before we write him off K?

A friend of mine, also military, stole a cake truck once. I am perturbed by the similarity.

On topic, I agree. I'm looking forward to meeting Vega in-game, if only to find out what he's going to be like beyond the Dead Rising weapon making that he seems to possess.

lol at Dead Rising comparison. But using found objects as improvisational weapons has a long tradition in combat. Also, Jackie Chan did it before Dead Rising. :)

Yeah, the keys were in the ignition for the bread truck so... he really didn't have a choice.

Word. Martial arts training is the same, especially if your senseis are crazy old men who like sticks. Just made the Dead Rising comparison because TV/knife makes as much sense to me as drill/bucket does.

...I hope Vega gets a Drill Bucket.

Same with my friend. He was also drunk. That probably didn't help any.

Do not dismiss PTSD with a handwave, folks.  It's a real problem for real soldiers, and the fact that someone on our squad has it is makes the whole "we're at war" situation more believable and closer to home.

James Vega could very well be that one guy you went to high school with.

Someone who knows what they're doing and does it anyway knowing that there's no real benefit likely of any kind is, in my books, stupid.

That would apply to practically everyone ever.

Yes it would.

Amending my statement, it would apply to everyone if our cases applied to my response all the time.  It doesn't.  We have moments when we're stupid.  Distilling us to the level that we're stupid all the time is unfair, but the level of stupid displayed by Vega in the comic is just really stupid. That's robbing a store in front of the cops (knowing that they're there) kind of stupid - though robbing a store can be not stupid depending on the situation.

Vega's playing a game with a group of Batarians and in front of them he rips a television down when there's a report on 300k Batarian deaths.  If the roles were reversed we would expect the humans to let the Batarian go because obviously he's bothered by something?  No.  Vega rips the t.v. down and says "As long as I don't have to listen to this bullsh!t".  300k Batarian deaths is bullsh!t?  The reverse: 300k human deaths is bullsh!t?

That is stupid.

I'm sure he was referring to that Shepard is responsible to that.

And only very few people really know that Shepard is responsible.

Minus the drinking problem, yes. I found her to be completely insufferable and cliche, even when I romanced her. Moreso when I romanced her, actually, because the romance fell into several other cliches that made my teeth hurt.

But before this develops into a butthurt flame war on both sides, I'm going to step back and say let's agree to disagree.

Edit: @Shimmer_Gloom

Yup. It was. You literally combine a drill and a bucket. When done, you gently place on a zombie's head, and proceed to giggle as his head gets destroyed by multiple drills and fall dead. Pick up Drill Bucket. Rinse. Repeat.

Actually, yeah, I do know someone like that.  The older brother of one of my best friends was shipped off to Afghanistan right out of high school.  He was a really sweet, goofy guy before he left, and when he came back, he was paranoid and angry all the time.  I mean, he's still a goofball, but there's this hostile bitterness to him that was never there before.  It scares the hell out of me, and I can't imagine the things he must have faced that made him like that.

The definition of emo isn't set in stone. One says dramatic and another says emotionally disturbed. Jack is emotionally disturbed. However she's disturbed for a good reason.

Still, keeping Jack in mind, it's turning into another example of the audience being able to identify and label the character before they get a chance to meet them. In Jack's case we had a video and in this one it's a comic. Unless there's more we know all there is to know.

He was reacting to the announcer calling Shepard a terrorist basically. He rips the television off the mount. The krogan owner doesn’t seem too upset about it--telling him he only has to pay for it, which Vega said he would do and give extra not to listen to the bull****. Again, referring to Shepard being called a terrorist. If Vega spent his military career hearing of Shepard’s achievements, his accolades and sees him/her as a hero, someone who sacrificed much for the benefit of the entire galaxy--then he might be sick of hearing Shepard being labeled as a terrorist. Really, how many of you people whining about his “over-zealous” reaction to the television punched the reporter in ME2?

The batarians asked Vega if he thought the batarians deserved payback(not justice--payback), and the other referred to him as a “Shepard lover”, clearly trying to incite. Vega doesn’t even respond to them. He doesn’t go Rambo on them because they asked those questions. He doesn’t respond with blind anger. Instead, he tries to defuse the situation and asks them to just finish playing their game. He doesn’t attack until they attack first. I don’t blame him for defending himself. Had he tried being diplomatic, then people would complain about him being too passive and boring.

Maybe so, but I can't give him a pass on what he did.  The way he acts sounds like he's heard the report more than once already.  In fact, the caption says: "days after the annihilation of a Batarian system by Commander Shepard".  I'd wager that report came up quickly.  So Vega had to have heard the report the first time (considering his words in the comic) and taken notice of 300,000 Batarian dead.  So acting like he did shows a complete disregard for what happened to a whole system and he's playing cards with at least four Batarians.

Again, if the situation had been reversed he'd be looking for blood...probably before sitting down to a card game.  Those Batarians actually made a distinction between the one responsible and every other human.  I don't believe they'd be playing cards with him otherwise.

I want a drill bucket now.

Also, Jack wasn't that bad imo. She was a bit hard to get close to, what with the pricklyness and the 'tough exterior hiding a tortured soul' thing is done alot. But there is some depth if you care to dig for it. I just usually never do. I usually went W Samara for Biotics. She was better adjusted and had an AR. So. YMMV.

He started the situation with his actions.  The reasons behind them don't matter.  One Batarian is dead (that he was playing cards with minutes before) and others injured due to his actions.

If the actions you exhibit start a confrontation that leads to the death of one of the people involved you're culpable in the death...especially if it was you that killed the deceased.  It's an easy case of saying you started it for the outcome that resulted.

An unarmed guy gets attacked by four people, one of them armed, and you are really surprised that it results in injury and/or death?

If that isn't a case for responding with deadly force I don't know what is...
