I just bought Genesis for ME2.
1) bought the Bioware points, no problem.
2) tried to spend them on the DLC and found that experience not so hot.
First of all, the initial attempt ended up at a page that was meaningless. The second ended up where it should have, at the Bioware checkout. Ticked the box after reading, hit the button. Got a page giving not very helpful error messages mentioned jedi mind tricks. Cool under other cicumstances. Not funny when dealing with real money. Forced a refresh, thinking better than the rarely recommended back button, and went back to my entitlements. Fortunately for me the DLC is listed there and fortunately for Bioware my points deducted.
The point: even after all this time, the system is frustrating because it is not reliable enough and therefore not encouraging towards future purchases!

"First of all, the initial attempt ended up at a page that was meaningless."
Was this by any chance the page which has all the DLCs you already have installed?

No, not at all. I'm not that ignorant. I know that page, what it looks like and what it's for. The first wrong turn somehow went to a page showboating ME(3). Perhaps that was down to me, though I'm not sure how. But the error page was defintely not my fault, since it was reached from the Bioware/EA store.

I didn't mean to imply you were ignorant? It's just I had an error when trying to buy the DLC that took me to the page with my installed downloads and resulted in my account being banned for fraud. When i hit buy now, that's where it redirected me, so I was wondering if you had the same error.
The system is absolutely ridiculous because I've been banned for trying to buy a DLC and instead of it redirecting me to the popup/page asking me to buy BWP and which type I want, I got redirected to my installed DLCs. So I tried to buy the same DLC 3 times, and two others - no money was transferred and no digital downloads/rights, and yet hours later, my account is gone. I presumed by meaningless you meant a page that was pointless - there was no implication that you were ignorant.

Indeed, I did mean "pointless", sorry. And I did also get redirected to my installed DLCs once too, but didn't view that as as much of a problem because it only happened once and at least it served to show me whether or not the DLC I had thought I had just purchased was in there or not.
As a system it strikes me as being unnecessarily cumbersome. I'd prefer to also have the option of just paying direct. "Bioware points" don't have a lot of point for me. There's not even a value benefit to buying bigger chunks of them.

It means a lot to me that you've actually mentioned that (the installed DLCs redirect)! Because that's the only thing I can think of that they're accusing me for fraud by! It's ridiculous
You're completely right - paying directly is easier - the savings you get for buying more BWP are barely noticeable!
I hope they fix it. It's why I never paid for BWP in advance, I just wanted to pay as and when.

I didn't pay in advance either. Spent the points about one minute after buying them, though thankfully I had less difficulties than you. If the bigger chunks were better unit value, I would bet that Bioware would make more overall. Basic retail psychology. Unit price, £1/$1. Three for 2:50. I bet some people that would only buy maybe one piece (e.g. Genesis or LotSB) would buy three....

My main worry was that I wouldn't ever use the points (as buy paying as and when it always = an amount you can use... I didn't want to be left with say 180 BWP which I couldn't use without again topping up - by an amount that could still leave excess. If you get stuck with them and can never spend them - that's the minute savings they were offering wasted.
If/when... I get my account back, I will be so scared to use that shop ever again :/
