After hours of deduction and experimenting I discovered that if you change a creature's perception in its properties to 'PercepRngPlayer' then the creature will no longer spawn via a script.
I felt it important to point out to people in the know that once I changed the creatures' perception ranges to 'Long' they spawned via the script just fine.
I have no idea at all why this is, does anyone?
