So its been a little over a month since the Vault quit uploading and displaying new content.  Of course there have been the secondhand messages from the Vault admins stating that things are getting fixed, but I shake the nagging "what if..."   I've been working on The Wizard's Apprentice steadly for over a year now and will be able to release in the coming months, but release where?  Will the vault be up by then?  Are there other venues to release in?  I know there are other builders who have been working on long-term projects and I am interested in hearing what your thoughts or plans may be.

Out of respect and deference to Beyond the Pale, I would like to see the situation with the Vault sorted out.

However, I have also wondered if it might not be approaching the point to consider an alternative method to showcase NWN2 modules.

What I would like to see is something like a central blog or forum site. An author can make a post about their campaign release and include a link to a third-party filesharing site, or even dropbox, with all the contents to be downloaded. Players can then comment and post feedback or ask for assistance as needed.

It could even be as simple as using this forum to make the announcement, and link to a location to download the files. Then invite the players post their comments to that thread.

Harumph!

I have seen a similar situation with one other site for a popular flight simulator. It works similar to what you have described. I would like to see a method of tracking downloads and some sort of standard feedback/votings system continued as well.

My project is still a ways off. So either the Vault will be working again, or an alternative will have been established. I'd prefer the Vault get fixed.

Vault. If not, maybe dropbox.

I'm not a modder, but what about the Citadel? You could probably ask for a module releases section until the Vault is working again. I guess you'd still have to use dropbox or something, but all the modules could be together in the same place. It could be hard to find here with all the non-related threads.

You could stick links in a stickied thread here, but you wouldn't be able to have votes/feedback/discussion etc very easily.

For you people suggesting dropbox. Path of Evil was on dropbox for my testers, Dropbox cut me off for bandwith usage... you're not going to be able to support even a small number of people downloading your stuff.

Personally, I'm really hoping that the vault gets back up. I've got a small project almost finished, so I'll be looking for somewhere soon. The guys at the Neverwinter Podcast were talking about putting mods on their site - if I heard them right - but I haven't looked into it yet.

The Vault looks like it is on the mend. Things are manually being entered and BTP has regained email capabilities. There is a stiky stating they are working on things. I am confident that it will be righted eventually.

For the last few days it has been on the front page. I just checked and it is still there.

BTP wrote...

We are still chasing down the kobolds in the Vault, there can't be too many more left. In the mean time, we will be approving entries manually. This means they won't post on the front page but will be accessible.

Thank you again for your patience.

Yes, there's still a few kobolds down there. I tried to upload an update to an existing submission and it seemed to take it, but now the page shows no files. Perhaps that file will be manually accepted at some point, but at the moment it's a dead download page and all the history has been lost. Oh well...

It seems to be working now, at least for me. I just uploaded the Bonus Blueprints set, linked below. You might find the new icons and other content useful for your modules. See the README.pdf for details.
