it can't. They're living a fairy tale that will just end in disaster.

A successful relationship doesn't necessarily involve f*cking constantly.

I mean, by god, if sex was all there was to a relationship, I'd have sixteen more siblings and my parents would be divorced.

Well, then it looks like you're going to have to make up for the lack of kissing with more cuddles, hugs, and thoughtful conversation.

Here's to some actual gameplay consequences in ME3, namely Tali getting horribly sick and/or dying after her ME2 romance scene.

That would still be an awful long time to just keep going at it, just saying.

Adapting to shep aside, the relationship does not have to be based upon physical contact, she got that out of her system. Now they can do everything using nerve stims, and beyond that you don't even need sex to have a relationship. (Although it really does help)

Intimacy =/= sex.

They even discussed using nerve stim stuff in game, but I think Tali wanted her first time to be special. I would image in the future she'd keep the suit on and things would work out fine. Maybe do the physical contact thing every once in a while, for like birthdays and such.

Here's something to consider. If they're having trouble with a relationship because of a lack of "romance" (intercourse, kissing, being able to touch each others skin) then how would other quarians feel?
I mean, it's almost the same for them. They're still stuck in their suits, they still can kiss each other, they still cant touch each other. Yet they survive and relationships exist.
Many people, primarily fanfiction writers, have theorized that Quarians have different ways of expressing love. Because their faces are hidden, they have to portray their facial emotions through body movement. Kissing could be as simple as a gentle touch of helmets.
If they can do it, then so can Tali and Shepard. If they are truly in love (which all depends on the player, really) then they will be able to move past these obstacles.

To screw over those who decided to romance a specific LI? I think not.

Yeah. She does seem to want 'more' than regular Quarians.
Not so selfless after all, eh Tali?

I'm sure they would work something out. I mean, we get a very short glimpse of the relationship after the first encounter, right before the O-4 relay. We don't really know what it turned into, if it turned into anything at all.

No, to let your choices have actual consequences, simple as that. You knew there were dangers from the very beginning, just like you knew Thane wouldn't live much longer. Would you argue that Thane dying at a set moment during ME3 would be screwing over people as well?

If the whole amino/dextro-thing ultimately wouldn't amount to anything, they shouldn't have bothered with adding that piece of lore in the first place. Then again, the same could be said about choice-consequence in general...
