Has anyone successfully recreated default Shepard's (Mark Vanderloo) face in Dragon Age 2? Here's my latest attempt. The eye size options are a bit limiting.

Makes you realise how poor the hair textures are in DA2...

Some of the female hairstyles are pretty good, certainly better than Mass Effect 2's.

The style is fine but it doesn't really look like hair.

So is ME hair, honestly. The special default Shep face is the only one with good hair, so much as he actually has hair. Bioware is terrible at designing realistic hair.

Agreed, they're both horrible.

Even Tallis has awful hair, and that's a brand new DLC that hasn't come out yet. Seriously, I've never seen hairlines like that in real life. ;)

Realistic hair could take hours to render due to hair transparency map. I play with few 3D renderers like V-Ray ( 3DS Max ), Mental Ray ( Maya ), Firefly ( Poser Pro 2010 ), Lux Renderer ( stand alone application ) and 3Delight ( Daz Studio ), so I'm fully aware why BioWare use such simple model and texture.

Hey, look what they did in DA:O!

But of course, once again DA2 butchers faces.

Agreed the original hair was horrible, but I think it's a sign of the "rush" that was put on the game. And I don't understand because the hair has been improved with a mod created without a toolset, so I don't understand why BW didn't finish the job before release:

Sigh, just another place where DA2 kinda fails...

Their face sliders remind me of Oblivion's, another game where its pretty difficult to make anything pretty unless you mod it in.

Yeah, they should just add more options. Like why couldn't we use defauld maleHawke's hair? I never did a maleHawke just b/c there wasn't an option for that one. So stupid<_<

This looks more like Matthew Fox than Mark Vanderloo, but the detail level is pretty good.

Hey now, let's make sure to use our company-based linguistic skills. DA 2 doesn't "butcher" anything...it "polarizes!"

Here's my attempt.

Not great. But probably better than I could do with the Mass Effect character creator.

life lesson: bioware makes awful charecter creators, this was obvious though, PC charecter mods are the only way to get a good looking charecter cause; of course; the community who do it for free are infinetly better THEN THE PAID EMPLOYEES AT BIOWARE

^ Disagree. Nitpick as much as you want, but the face creators in Mass Effect and Dragon Age are among the best in the business. I would be interested to learn what other popular game has a better face creator?

EVE Online

But I do think the DA and ME face creators are better than a lot of people give them credit for it.
