You're comparing an interestingly lit scene to a low-res screenshot of a flatly-lit scene. Really?

Well, can you find an interestingly lit DA2 screenshot to compare?

Here are some random shots of DA1 and DA2 male NPCs.  I'm not handpicking, I'm just grabbing them off the wiki

I think those DAII faces look a lot better, so we'll just have to agree to disagree about that. But the only pic you posted that has similar lighting conditions is Quentin, and it shows pretty clearly much greater detail than the Origins faces.

The main problem I have with DA2 faces is this which I have in half of my Hawke's, and I replaced the Anders face for a similar issue. There are npc's that also have this, but fortunately I don't see them constantly

this black line is not his beard, it's a teeth clipping issue that is annoying and something I never had in DAO:

I've honestly never seen that before; in Anders or in any other of the NPC's. I'll have to create a custom face morph to verify if it happens with those on my end, though.

Anders is mostly his bottom lip...not sure why it does it either. I tried lowering the settings and it was still there, so I use a friend's mod that she made for the same reason, the lip clipping thing was driving us crazy.

Edit: forgot to add that I have the game on two computers, a tower and a laptop, and this happens on both systems.

Nah, it shows the combination of "old man/infected" normal map(s) on Quentin, is unsurprisingly more wrinkled than the smoother "middle aged man" normal map on the DAO characters :/

a character with the 'old' normal map in DAO for more sensible comparison:

(lacking the infected extra colouring, but can't have everything)

I think I had the teeth clipping once, when Isabela was making her big entrance with the spoily thing. Never seen it otherwise.

My Hawke had a very mild case of that, but it's someting that could also happen with DAO morphs. The Toolset has sliders to move teeth back and/or scale them, to fix it.

Some of the female hairstyles are pretty good, certainly better than Mass Effect 2's.

Looks like Isabela tried to follow Jennamarbles' "How to make people think you're good looking" tutorial... note the hoochie lipstick.
