What the heck does that mean?

I was wondering the exact same thing. LOL. Does he mean "to be forced to meet an impossible deadline by the publisher"? That's the only way to pull an "Obsidian" that I can think of.

Maybe he means release a game half finished? I don't know.

The crazy thing is, despite all the limitations, Obsidian managed to create a pretty good game in my opinion.

Isn't that what people were already accusing DA2 of being? Seems like a redundant thing for him to say, if so.

No denying that, but its still usally half finished. It might be the publishers fault, but its still terrible.

I wouldn't say DA2 is half finished, but it definitely needed more time in the oven. So many areas felt unifished, and so many resources were reused way too obviously. Bioware did a great job in general concept and direction, but the game was definitely unfinished.

Yeah, LucasArts dropped the ball on that one, not Obsidian. I can't fault them for what would've probably turned out to be a decent game if given more time in development.

Do what Obsidian often does when it comes to making sequels: leave the engine and other vital stuff as they are, add some new stuff to make it feel "fresh" and simply create a new story/game with what you have. You know, the obvious thing to do when the previous game is both commercially and critically acclaimed.

Doesn't mean kotor 2 isn't half finished though. It took fans to restore most of its functionality, and even they can't completely finish it. They just worked with what obsidian left behind in the code.

Damn fine work, doesn't excuse the fubar.

There is plenty ME3 could learn from. Like how to handle characters. Varric didn't just sit at home waiting for hawke to summon him, he and the other companions had lives and lived them with or without hawke. DA2 also did a much better job at character animations in my opinion.

And although their system was still limited, I dare say DA2s method of handling conversations was better than ME;s silly morality bars.

I disagree. I'm not a fan of systems that keep track of morality. (Paragon/Renegade, Dark Side/Light Side, etc), however, I do appreciate meters that keep track of where I stand with companions. Dragon Age: Origins got rid of that, sure. But its sequel improved upon it. Vastly. I think that boat has sailed with ME3, however. What a shame.

Meh, fair enough, although there are better alternatives for morality meters.

As far as the general design choices go, however, my point still stands.

Restricting your conversation options - or rather, them succeeding or not - based upon an invisible one wasn't much better than ye usual Persuasion and Intimidation.

The fact that what I said seems to give off a sense of "stupidity" to you means you must have agreed with Kaiser. And since you agree with him I'm not sure why you consider his statement stupid.

I think this thread has run its course when the participants are discussing the merits of two different games that aren't Mass Effect and debating the definition of stupidity.

Of course, that's what people do when they can't think of a proper argument.

Agreed, there'll be another topic tomorrow anyway.
