I think this is the second time you've said something like this, and I think it's sounding like you're being deliberately obtuse. You don't have to be an activist about it, you just can't dislike it.Kaiser Shepard wrote...

The people who want this "everybody is bisexual" BS calling others idiots? Something's wrong with this picture.
I suppose that means the game is xenophobic as well, seeing how not all human characters are black and/or asian...

Oh look, it's that non-existent argument that resembles "reverse racism!"
Visual aid time!

You are the baby. The spoon is the principle of equality. See how he fails to grasp it?

True, but it isn't the first time you guys approach someone of a contrary opinion by simply being overzealous bigots either.Xilizhra wrote...

See an overzealous bigot, reply with zeal. I don't believe it counts as bigotry, as I'm only ever speaking in regards to an opinion they've expressed.True, but it isn't the first time you guys approach someone of a contrary opinion by simply being overzealous bigots either.

It's less of approaching someone of a contrary opinion with too much zeal and approaching it with the furstration that this has been discussed to death. This isn't just beating a dead horse: this is like Sarah Jessica Parker beating ANOTHER dead horse and then having to sit there and watch as her attack spirals out of control. All over again. For the millionth time. While we're at it, why don't we just start the endless complaining about James Vega, just to kill two birds with a single stone. It would save a lot of time for everybody involved.

That's what people keep bringing up, I don't want such and such a character hitting on me.
Otherwise, I say deal with it. I have to deal with Shiala suddenly finding my straight femShep attractive and hitting on her. You don't understand how hard I face palmed when she did her little shoulder stroke thing. What happened to that awesome wise asari from the first game? Why couldn't she just have said, thanks Shepard *hand shake.*
But noooooooooooo, asari are genderless and go any which way on the swing. I don't care, any woman into an asari has to be at least bisexual if not full out lesbian. It is a homosexual relationship.

The safe thing is to make them not hit on Shepard. Let Shepard initiate it, make sure it's clear as friggen day that the option you are selecting is hitting on them, and you can play the entire game really never knowing their sexual preferences.
They will STILL complain. Dragon Age 2 has a massive red HEART icon telling you which dialogue options are romance related and which ones are not, and people still found useless reasons to complain.

I'm done with Bioware. Sacrificing story or character integrity for the sake of appeasing a handful of fans doesn't sit well with me.
If they were gay or bisexual from the start, then whatever. In fact, go ahead and make more NEW gay characters if you feel that your games need more gays or bisexuals. But the last thing I need is having a character like Garrus turn around and hit on me simply because a bunch of random dudes wanted him to be gay.
All I ask for is consistency, and to have Bioware learn from their "loleveryoneisbi" mistake in DA2.
---------
Oh and to preemptively address a few common arguments:
"They never explicitly state they're NOT bi/gay!"
That's about as valid as saying that it would be legitimate to have Harry Potter defeat Voldemort with Ninjutsu because it never explicitly states that he's not a ninja earlier in the series.
"You can make lots of choices with character decisions and personalities!"
Many of the characters are written to have conflicting character traits that you can foster in the game. Being straight or gay isn't a personality trait. May as well ask the developers to allow the choice to turn Miranda black. None of the straight characters have so much of a hint that they're bisexual, except Jack who apparently tried it and is now done with it. Making any of them bisexual is both unnecessary and jarring. Make good gay characters for the gays instead of caving in to ridiculous requests to alter characters.
"Tali was maybe going to be bisexual during development of ME2!"
And she's not in the official game. Plenty of things get cut during development.
Inb4 homophobe/beatingdeadhorse.

I agree with the whole- player initiates it deal. It should be the players choice otherwise it just gets awkward. But I'm totally for it being there and I don't see why the mere idea of these characters being gay makes people so angry.

Don't tell that to Leia Shepard. She isn't into human females at all and isn't bi. She is very much hetrosexual that happen to fall in love with an asari. That does NOT make her bi nor a lesbian.Lucky Thirteen wrote...

I like player-initates it, too. It was hella awkward for my lesbian Shep to try to get Jacob's personal quest, especially because she basically says "hey, baby, let's get personal...in my bed" every time you greet him.
For those who dislike being accused of being homophobes, this is probably why you are. That you're angry at the even hint that a character is gay. (Regardless if he or she wasn't out before). That's what people are reacting too. The vehemence of oh noe gay reaction.
It's off-putting, to say the least. Especially to those of us who are gay/bi.
