At what point did I try to turn you gay?

Has anyone been turned gay from these threads?

Are any men now doing more men?

Any ladies boinking fellow ladies?

Nooooo?

Well, damn.  I was hoping to pick up chicks on this thread.

God damn  straight people don't know what's good for them. *that was a joke*

LOL . Just calling it like I see it (hyperboles included). But these threads do tend to turn into a royal rumble everytime. So the point I'm trying to make is... there is no point. Whether you're pro or anti s/s the developers are already set on what they're going to do. Can't we all just get along? [/Rodney King]

Christ, this thread is still going? I thought we established that "retconning" the sexuality of characters in Mass Effect 3 is impossible since they have no stated sexuality. In fact, we did it on the first page.

Being made bisexual just for the sake of fan-service? It's rather self-evident how that cheapens the romances.

Characters are made romance options period just for the sake of fan service...does that cheapen their character?  So all LI characters are 'cheap' with 'cheap' romances?

ReconTeam wrote...
Yet it isn't all about the romances either, it's about the player's relationship to all of the characters on their team. Many people were pissed with the way DA2 did things.

Because of the meta-knowledge that character X is possibly romanceable by the same gender?  This is as ridiculous as my saying Liara's possible death in ME3 would cheapen her character to me as I know she could possibly die in someone else's game.

ReconTeam wrote...
Of course. People make all sorts of foolish and silly requests on forums. Yet considering Bioware did such a foolish thing in DA2, I think I should be worried.

You think it's foolish and silly but apparently most don't.

I beg to differ. In fact the Talimancers used to hate me with a passion.

By your logic, you should throw fits over all romance content as it's inherently fanservice with no purpose.  You're quite inconsistent.  You should throw fits over the inclusion of other things, like Renegade options considering the minority of players go that route and the 'choice' to be a badass is fanservice.

Who started this whole thing about all romances becoming Bi? I do think that would make things suffer, because they will need more time for that. There are 9 possible choices for romance as it is, and only one goes both ways which makes 10 scenarios they have to work out. Make the other 8 bi and now they've got 18.

I think the large number we have already has shown to effect all the characters. That's why Garrus is calibrating all the time, that's why Tali is always cleaning the engines, Miranda is too busy around the ship to ever talk, Jacob only wants to brofist all the time, Thane's too busy meditating and Jack just doesn't want to talk. The point they all start doing that, is the point a romance could have taken off if you want to get anything more out of them.

It's not about the idea that not everyone is bi, it's about the fact it does take up space and time for the developer and they start to cut corners to make up for it. I noticed someone said "pulling and Obsidian" and they may have not meant it the way I thought, but I couldn't help thinking, oh dear, having all the romance options cut out for femShep because maleShep takes priority. I certainly hope not after all the crap of a lot of fans have been stiring for femShep(myself including).

Again, I do agree the fan base is way too focused on romances, there are a lot of choices already. I would like to have choices in romances, and I would like to have choices in friends. It's very strange to not have ever talked to Liara in the first game and she gets extremely upset (puppy dog eye upset) that you don't want to invite her over for wine in your room.

If Bioware somehow works it out, have fully dialogued characters I can talk to for most of the game, with a romance going on the side. Cool.

Realistically, I'd rather just have a handfull of Bi. Namely the ones they wrote out to be bi from the start and were cut do to time restraints and other crap. Kaidan and Ashley for sure, Thane and I think I've heard cut content for Miranda. If I'm mistaken about Miranda, I think it's pretty clear Tali was meant to be a romance for femShep considering that connecting suits line. I'd prefer Miranda, but whatever.

It's within their characters if they were initially written out that way. Just because they don't talk about it all the time doesn't make them straight. Sexuality is a personal thing. People have the right to not share it all the time and detail past relationships. They have the right to not "throw it in peoples faces and not keep it in the bedroom where it belongs" as certain people would put it.

They do.  I really wish people could discuss this without hitting the rage button, myself included.

Buuuuut I really doubt people will quit being dicks to each other on the internet.

I'm under the impression that creating a bi-romance out of an already existing romance doesn't take that many resources.  Creating a whole new romanceable character does.

Well, recall that past BW games had the token 'one dude' for female PCs to romance while male PCs got a selection of females to choose from (and the female PC possibly had a choice of one of those ladies for an f/f romance).   It would be a better use of resources for them to cut down on male LIs period considering most players romance females.  Say, let's only have Kaidan and Vega be available for females in ME3 and create more female romances in general (add Kasumi as an LI).

I don't support that as I feel heterosexual female PCs should have as many choices as their male counterparts.

Not for me and some others in this thread.

It's all part of the gay agenda. Don't question it, just accept it.

If I remember correctly you can establish that female Shepard is heterosexual in ME1 and then have that little fish affair with Kelly in ME2.
But I don't think anyone ever complained about this. I wonder why..... :P

You're giving the detractors too much credit. "Retcon" is a buzzword used to hide the fact that they feel uncomfortable with homosexuality and would probably have a panic attack if another dude hit on them in real life. It has nothing to do with retconning characters. At all.

But yes, your point is ultimately true.

I do find that most people who are loudest about being agianst this are men and they are talking about male shep and another man bet most dont mind the idea of femshep and another woman
