But I do agree with the OP that Bioware shouldn't retcon characters who have only expressed an interest in the opposite sex for two games. My issue isn't with there being bi or gay characters in game, but with characters being retconned to fill the gay/bi romance quota. Bioware's best bet would be to have new characters like Vega, who are a blank slate, be the bi or gay romance options. I have known gay men who have dated women, even married women, to hide their sexuality. Outwardly, yes, they appeared quite straight... until they came out of the closet. Not talking about blokes does not equal "he isn't gay".

And the only truly bisexual companion in DA2, as in the only one who openly expresses an interest in women and men despite Hawke's gender / if Hawke romances them or not, is Isabela. The other companions' sexuality is ambiguous, they do not openly express an interest in both genders.

ReconTeam, seriously, you need to drop the "small, insignificant demographic" bullsh*t. If Bioware aimed to please only the majority, there would be zero customization or player choice at all. Everyone would be a default male soldier and renegade interrupts would auto-engage. Maybe that's how you play, but what about the pure-paragon female engineers?

They're largely window dressing, always have been, and will be more-so if they drift towards 2D Shepard-sexual status.

What one f*cks is still a part of who one is, and shouldn't be changed just because a few players want to f*ck somebody they can't. Considering the big deal some make about sexuality around here, you'd think they'd take offense at this concept of everybody being bisexual solely because it is somehow supposed to please everybody.

Honestly, I always thought that retconning would be taking all the LIs and making them repulsed by the Shepard that was able to sleep with them in previous games. For example, if Miranda told male Shepard in ME3 that she only liked women and she didn't want to be with him anymore, that would be retconning. Is an optional path really retconning if you have the ability to overlook it?
