Wait- What if vehicle levels were designed so that they could be completed by either vheicle, and you could choose which one you want?

this would be sick as f***, to bad the hammerhead would be collecting space dust the whole game tho

Until you reach a mission where time is of the essence. I take the speed of the Hammerhead over the Mako's superior armor and shielding any day. The ability to upgrade vehicles would be nice too. Add a little extra armor and better shields to the Hammerhead and we're good to go.

I would like to see more exploration segments like Overlord. As long as it isn't overused like the side quests in the first game. Maybe one or two planets could have the 'open world' exploration from side planets in ME1. That way the concentration of interesting things to find would be much higher instead of repeatedly exploring worlds that all start to look the same after a while.

I liked both the Mako and the Hammerhead, though the Hammerhead solved a lot of problems the Mako had. Maybe ME3 could have a customizable vehicle. That's a lot to ask for, but it sounds awesome.

I personally enjoyed Mako. It feels like you are space explorer with only two companions, one vehicle and limited amount of oxygen.

The larger cannon, as in BMP-3, are heavy ordinance and put a lot pressure on suspension.

The only reason I brought it up was just because it was one of the few with bigger than a 25 or 30mm gun.  There is weird stuff like the 105mm equipped Stryker...   The only reason I gave any examples of that was just because there are some IFVs running around with big guns and some are running around with wheels.

the vehicle I'm running could easily steamroll several BMP-3 as it has a rapid fire 30mm cannon that can easily penetrate that armor. The point in rapid fire guns is that if can penetrate armor it does it with a blaze, it it's infantry you can cut down them in hordes and if there is no penetration you can still cause enough shake to disorient the enemy and with luck damage their gun and with a good shot even bust out their targeting systems.

I  assumed you were American just for no reason and that it would have been a Bradley... but they don't have 30mm's so...  Now I will have to guess something like Warrior.

Perhaps MAKO was just produced alongside Normandy itself and meant for low importance recon but used by Shepard for combat. The MAKO's combat prowess would just come out of the "just a game" aspect.

Yeah I don't know how much of it was designed to be cool.  Sort of like the exhaust pipes...

Back to the gun, all I can imagine was that they thought it needed some punch against armor or rather kinetic barriers that a smaller one wouldn't provide, and they probably don't use anything like a TOW which gets bolted onto everything smaller than a tank it seems.

It seems that about half of the peoples gripes with the Mako was the open world side planets being to big and empty. That's a problem with the level design, not the Mako it self.

Actually that is pretty accurate.  But things like ultra steep mountains occur with some frequency, especially on planets that don't have atmosphere or water to erode them down.  At least if the places we have actually investigated a bit so far are any indication.

Ah, the Mako. I hated that thing so much that I loved it, and I really miss the stupid vehicle. Seeing it at the Normandy's crash site really tugged my heart strings...:crying:

Wow, I thought I was the only one who like the mako better... xbox btw.

I liked wheels, but they lacked maneuverability. the hammerhead fixed this, but it forgot it's armour at home. mix of the two would be great.

As for the missions, I loved the openness of me1, but didn't like the (seldom seen) hard to climb mountains that lead to an objective. I liked the uniqueness of each hammerhead mission, but didn't like the linear progression (didn't fit with ME philosophy).

The best thing about the Mako is the sceneries it gets to explore.

The worst thing about the Hammerhead is the inability to save while in vehicle.

Both are not the properties of the vehicles themselves really.

Ah, good times. I laughed out loud whenever I hit something in the Mako and it ragdolled.

Do want. I haven't been able to stop picturing that since I first heard about that. Didn't the articles say that was during a vehicular section as well? I don't think Shepard was in control, but still.

Even if the game has the Hammerhead as the main vehicle - or if it has no "main" vehicle at all - I wouldn't mind seeing the Mako make a guest appearance. For example: During the course of a regular mission, you need to jump into a Mako that's parked nearby so you can drive from one area to another. Kind of like what ME1 did on Feros and Noveria.

A lot of people hated the fact that the side missions had so much driving in ME1. So, this might be a good way to work the Mako in as a tribute, while avoiding the need to use it all the time in side missions.

Personally, I loved the Mako, and wouldn't mind seeing it return, at least for some side missions. But I understand that my opinion on the Mako doesn't generally seem to be in the majority.

I agree, the Mako should at least have a guest appearance and if you take ME1 characters with you on a drive there should be some inter party banter about it (like during the LotSB car chase)

Vehicle sections like me1 would be great IF its not just boring filler where i drive for 10 min stopping intermittently to fight the same three kinds of boring geth that i just right click over and over to kill. The vehicle itself is irrelevant to me. I'd like it to be a faster more controllable vehicle like the hammerhead i guess in the long run. Give me vehicle sections like ilos and i will be happy. Even though most of that was pretty boring there was at least interesting dialog and a unique environment to drive around. But i think that whole area was better designed then a lot of the game. I mean... the only fast moving elevator in the game is there, when going to talk to vigil. But thats a whole other discussion trying to figure out why protheans are the only space fairing species to have created elevators that move faster than 2mph.

I don't think ti's the elivators that are so slow - it's rather the buuldings that are so large.

The Citadel tower itself is several kilometers long.

Mako please please. The game wasn't the same without it.

All of ME2 felt like I was just standing on the Normandy and being teleported around to combat maps. I never once felt like I was exploring the galaxy.

Now if the only choice of vehicles is that hop around platform jumper thing, I'd rather have no vehicles. That wasn't Mass Effect, is was just some sort of cliff jumping creation, shoved into my ME game. If you are going to do that kind of Lara Croft jumping puzzle junk, put my Shep into a jetpack, I want to be me, not that frail annoying vehicle.

And give him a chainsword!

The Mako has provided me some of the most depressing and vapid experiences of my video gaming life. It also gives me flashbacks to a sh*tty Beast Wars computer game from the 90's.

Geth only need LOOK at the Hammerhead, and the damn thing explodes.
Oh, and 'cold weather' also causes it to explode. It has:

No HUD
No 3x zoom
No turret gun
No cannon
No shields
No ability to bank left or right
No manual repair
No ability to get in or out of it at will

I'd gladly take the Mako back.

This. Pretty much why I hated the Hammerhead.

Yeah, the Featherhead can die in a fire.
