As I understand it, and I may be wrong, a portion does go back into the DLC team's budget for the next whatever and as I understand it the DLC team was also supposed to be the patch team, at least that how it got explained with DAO.

That's why I said profit instead of revenue.

It's all obfuscated away, of course (they just have to earn more money than they spend on it; I'm sure they don't actually see any of that money themselves). But as far as I'm concerned, if you keep charging people and you keep teams active (development and design and QA already has to spend time with DA2 for the DLC), some of that should be translated to taking care of your existing customers instead of using it all on how to make your next buck.

And maybe that's what they're doing, and they're just overworked and/or understaffed. Who knows? (It'd be nice to hear one way or the other, at least.)

I can agree with this, but as I said, my versions, both 360 and PC seem to be running okay so I haven't kept track of the potential bugs de jure.

I know Mr. Priestly came on a while back and explained some of the whys behind the fact there's not another patch in the works, but even for someone as credulous as me it sounded like... well you get the picture. I wonder though if patching has gotten prohibitively expensive due to the console market's model. This is just me thinking randomly at the moment.

Anyway, yes, I will buy this for both systems. It looks like fun, and I kinda like Tallis, she reminds me of a cross between Imoen and the archotypical friend everyone had at one point or another... You know, the one who kept poking you going: Come on, it'll be fun! and would proceed to get into lots of trouble. I don't find her to be any more Mary Sue than TIM or any of the other major actors they've had do voice and use as models for characters. Just one of those things I guess.

So again how are they forcefully making a cult personality out of someone far from just a internet celeb. Here you go I went and took a look. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1260407/

Yeah, how dare that actress who felt the internet and her love of gaming would make for a fun and profitable enterprise touch this sacred game!  She totally should have, like, made sure 100% of BioWare customers would, like, know who she is and want her in the game first!

Oh, crap, addiction21, you've brought out the snark in me.  :sick:

I really dont know her other then Eureka and I've missed seasons worth of episodes of that show. I do like redheads...

Yeah, I've not seen the current season of Eureka yet so I haven't had the pleasure - but I do love that show.

More of a Buffy/Dr. Horrible/Dollhouse thing for me.
And, of course, The Guild and everything that goes with that successful project.

But, to be clear, the excitement for me for her in this DLC is due almost exclusively for how much I loved Veronica in New Vegas. Image IPB

In Buffy and Dollhouse.... I'd prolly recognize her. Dr.Horrible and The guild I guess I will need to check out.

And she did Veronica? News to me.

Season 7 of Buffy.  Vi, one of the slayers-in-training.  Not a major role by any stretch of the imagination.
The unaired last episode of season one of Dollhouse, available on the DVD.  One of my favorite episodes of that series.  Otherwise her character only appears in the Dollhouse comics.
Fairly major character in Dr. Horrible, and probably one of her two big "claims to fame."
The Guild is probably not for everyone - MMO fans are probably the target audience, ones who have no problems laughing at themselves at least... though I think most gaming/comic/fantasy geeks can enjoy it.

As for New Vegas, I didn't even know she was a voice in the game (and didn't recognize her as Veronica) until I had nearly finished my playthrough.  I had fallen in love with Veronica when I first met her and ditched Boone like an empty cigarette pack.

I didn't get the Legacy DLC, and I'm not going to be getting this one either. I just didn't enjoy the DA2 experience enough to want to spend more money on a couple of extra hours with it. And my previous experience with Bioware DLC's have left me a bit less ...excited... about the value proposition of DLC cost versus play time.

That said, I will say there's a lot of aspects to this one that have me curious. I like the idea of more puzzles, exploration, and non-combat stuff. The stealth idea, in particular, seems like it might be something I'd like. So, for what it's worth Bioware, it sounds like an interesting direction for the DLC. I'll be interested to read player reviews to see how it pans out.

Awwww but its so adorable when you get snarky because you seem so serious for the most part, and those apperances you mention (I did read over the IMDB) does ring a bell. The potential slayer one in particular. I have caught most of the new Eureka season and she does the socially awkward thing well.  She is good in the role.

And Boone... Whatever it was but I never figured out that quest with out looking it up. Always had him shoot someone at random.

I bought every DLC except Golems for DAO but DAO was a far superior game that i could not get enough of that finally took me 22 completed characters later to finally say OK i have played this one out. I am still slogging through DA2 and am not really sure if there is enough game there to warrant a second play let alone 22. How DLCs will help this half of a game by adding more of the "less" that is infact the design philosophy of DA2 when compaired to DAO. So i probably will not buy any DLC, however there are a few mods that might breathe life in to this "one trick pony" called DA2. I really do not want to have to fight with mods, getting the right ones, getting them installed in the right places, dealing with compatibility issues, etc etc.

Dunno. It took me a while buy Legacy but I did enjoy it in the end. I'm not too sure about this one - I don't like having a spot taken by a forced group member and the story outlined in the trailer doesn't ring my bell. I don't take my DA experience outside of the games with books and such so I know nothing about the web series its based on (its a web series I think?)

I'll probably wait a while after release like I did with Legacy and see what the scuttlebutt is.

I'm thinking they might not actually force her to be a party member in the DLC, but she can be made one during this DLC. Maybe she'll still appear even if you choose different people, similar to how Varric and the sibling will always appear in Legacy's opening even if you choose different party members.

Well I didn't but Legacy and I won't be buying this either, which I feel is unfortunate. Here's my issue. I am not interested in buying content that takes place during a regular playthrough. I'm just not. I experienced Hawke's fairly linear progression for a Bioware game twice already, and a third time is stretching it. I want post-game content or it's no sale on any of it.

Take me beyond the ending and show me what Hawke's latest moments are or I'll never buy your content, which is simple because it doesn't suit what I'm looking for in DLC (and I bought every Origins DLC except the Darkspawn. Fool me twice shame on me). Either throw me a bone and let me at least KNOW there is post-DLC in the works and not one singular final piece that will wrap up Hawke's "epic" struggle in a 2 hour addon, or simply tell me he vanished so I can wait for DA3. That is all.

I'll buy it for a few reasons:
1- In the Live Chat, Mike said it will be longer than Legacy;
2- It will have tons of sidequests;
3- There will be a Korcari Wilds-like area to explore (f***ing loved that place!);
4- New environments, and locations to explore;
5- Tallis' fighting style (simultaneously dagger-wielding, and ranged rogue);
6- Return of the Qunari;
7- Seeing Chevaliers;
8- New armor, weapons and items;
9- Stealth, 'nuff said;
10- More puzzles and non-combat moments.
I really could go on and on but you know...

Ah, if you're right that might boost it up in my interest a bit.  I think I'll still wait a bit though - I'm trying on my cautious hat with DA related stuff nowadays.

If I can buy, say, Jade Empire for £5, why should I spend more on a DLC with a tenth of the content?

If DLC ever reduced in price I might buy it eventually. But it doesn't, so I won't.

I'll see what the fan response is. If it's generally decent, I expect I'll buy it. Legacy was, imo, good.

That's a good point. I think I'm going to give this one a pass, but it's the kind of thing where I'd usually go, "Nah, I don't like x feature, I'll pick it up when it's cheaper." But this kind of DLC wont get cheaper, will it? If it eventually gets bundled with DAII, or whetever, well I already have DAII and Legacy, so ...

Edit: Also, I should really get around to Jade Empire.

You can get a SNES Emulator and SNES ROMs for free. Why buy any video game ever?

Jade Empire is an older game its not state of the art anymore, and most of the people who will play that game have played it already. Thats why its slightly cheaper than a 2-5 hour DLC.

 Ok, first of all I love the Legacy DLC it was really fun but too short. Too short because it was too fun.

Anyway, just by what I saw on the trailer in mark of the assassin. I will definately buy it. The new character looks so hot. It also remind me of Kasumi's DLC from ME2 and it was a great fun DLC.

So, how about you guys. Have Legacy changed your mind about DA2? Enough to make you buy further DLC for DA2?

DA2 felt rushed and unfinished. But Legacy went a few steps towards fleshing the game out. So long as Mark of the Assassin continues Legacy's.. legacy, then in a few years I'll look back and remember DA2 as a pretty good game.

Jade Empire's not all that old.  And to someone who has already played DA2, it'll provide a fresher gameplay experience than a DLC.

If you want something more recent, how about comparing DA2 itself.  That's only £9 from Amazon.

I'm going to buy it for the simple fact that there's nothing better around.

Diablo III has improved the role playing part of the franchise, but we are still far away from having real companions and real interactions between the main character and the NPCs. To me it seems an attempt to give the players something between a Single Player RPG and a cooperative MMO with battlegrounds... I don't like that.

War in the North gives you 2 companions and that's it. It also seems to be even more story-driven than DAII. This means even less choices.

Skyrim is still far away from being finished and shipped. And even then it still has to prove to be able to give a good main story. Another thing: from what I have seen so far I don't like its combat system (first person view and no party system).

I didn't play Assassin's Creed, but I don't like its combat system. If you considered the DAO combat system to be slow paced then what do you have to say about that game? Other than that you have no companions.

I find it really hard to whine about a price when a Whopper meal at a Swedish Burger King restaurant costs just as much as 800 Microsoft points. A Whopper meal with fries and a Coke or 2 hour new Dragon Age II content + possible replays in other playthroughs?

Yes, I will buy it and I hope it's as good as Legacy.

Oh really? That sounds good if it's true. I would like to try Tallis in one of my playthroughs, but for my main one I'd rather stick with my prefered party.

Day 1 buy for me.

It's better be as good or have further improvement though over Legacy. Failing that, might not buy further DLC.

Looking forward to varied and interesting combat encounters, more party banters, compelling and expansive environments, more story exposition on the world of DA. Here's hoping for more improvements overall and also new sets of improvements over DA2 Bioware has been saying they'd like to add.

Will definitely play on Nightmare, as this was the difficulty that somehow got the very best out of the experience of Legacy.
