The people who don't mind having S/S romance in ME3 have split into 2 groups.

1. Those who have no problem with S/S romance in ME3, however do not want its implantation to change the sexuality of previous characters (minus Liara) who seem to be hetrosexual. Lets assume I agree with your assesment on how the fanbase is split (which I dont). But lets assume its true.

If Bioware went with group Two, then the first group...if that's truly how they feel...can still have the version they wanted simply by not romancing anyone they felt should stay straight. It should be a non-issue.

But because they are trying to force that viewpoint on other people's playthroughs that words like 'homophobe' keep coming out. What someone does in the privacy of their own game shouldn't really matter to them. Yet it does.

Personally I like the idea of relaxing gender restrictions. Not because I'm for or against S/S romance. I could care less. But because I'm in favor of having more options available to the player. Especially for replays. If I'm on my third playthrough and there's content I still havent seen, like a romance, then I don't want to be forced to play a certain type of Shepard just to see it.

As long as there is a friendship path to all potential LIs (which Bioware said they are doing) and all romance is instigated by Shepard (like previous games) then I don't see the issue.

But we'll argue it into the ground, since we are BSN.

The S/S thread is about 100% SUPPORT for S/S in ME.

Yet any thread that criticises it gets spammed, flamed, trolled and locked.

It's in the game though, and the game is practically finished. What on earth could you hope to accomplish in a criticism thread? A space to vent? 

A retroactive condemnation of a decision Bioware made months ago? Or baseless fearmongering about something none of us know anything about - the composition of LIs in ME3? Complaining? Comiserating with your fellow bros? I'm struggling to understand the need for a criticism thread for something that's irrevocably and inevitably going to happen. 

Why is there a discussion on ANYTHING in the game?

Why is S/S on some untouchable pedestal?

Why is there no discussion allowed regards to the S/S features except to endlessly praise it?

Why aren't people allowed to voice their displeasure with it?

I actually don't mind it being in game. But I'm getting sick of this constant bashing of people because they don't support you.

You have your support thread, so why aren't they allowed to have a criticism thread?

Yes some of them are homophobes, but so what? As you said, the features are already in game. Are you people really so thin-skinned that you can't tolerate that other people exist that don't like what you like? If the feature is already in game then their discussion of the subject wont have any adverse effect on that fact, nor will it hurt any of you. You have your thread let them have theirs and stop trying to stifle the discussion.

(This isn't just directed at you, but everyone who is complaining)

Honestly, I don't care one way or another, and I think it's totally acceptable for all LIs in a video game to be bisexual. Are you kidding? I totally understand. My Shepard is irresistible, and I'm sure yours is too.

I'll make it simple to you. 99% of the anti-s/s threads end up in people/OP admitting they oppose homosexuality in general, due to religious reasons or simply because how "gross" it is (the male/male thing of course, female/female is ZOMG HAWT!). 99% of the opponents sooner or later in a thread expose/admit that they were just using "I'm concerned about implementation of s/s romances" as an excuse to criticize homosexuality in general and hopefully make BioWare get rid of it all together. After few posts, 99% of the s/s opponents or people who seem to have "doubts" start talking about religion, choice/nature and all the jazz.

Look at the people having "I support heterosexuality" sigs. May seem innocent and 'constructive'. Now check their group. The description: "For all those who do not want a gay Shepard, gay dialog options, gay anything in future Mass Effect titles, show your support here!" -> they don't want to discuss the way s/s romances will be implemented, they don't want anything gay in ME or any other BioWare game. And they are smart about it, dressing up their threads in nice clothes and pretending they're "quality discussion" just to get their main point/goal notticed underneath pretty facade.

So really, you're surprised gay people and supporters are SICK of these threads? They're nothing more but a great chance for homophobes to vent their frustrations. And I totally understand where you're coming from.

But the underlying point remains. If S/S romances are already established for a fact to be in game, then even if they are homophobes their discussion wont stop the S/S feature from happening.

You don't like them. They don't like you.

Many of them are homophobes yes, but not all. Would you want your S/S support thread shut down because of a few extremists? What about the people who legitimately want to discuss it rather than to just bash homosexuals? Should they be deprived of a place to talk because of the others?

But, you are now getting S/S features in game. AND you have your own S/S support thread.
I don't support their ideas at all, but I honestly don't see the problem with giving them a thread to discuss the subject amongst themselves.

Hell, it's the same as the character support threads. Why are we allowed an endless amount of X Character Support threads but no threads to criticise the characters?

There's more to a discussion than praise, even if we don't like or agree with what the other side says.

Okay, no religious discussion, against the rules I get that. So why not warn/temp ban the posters who start bringing religion into it, rather than just autolocking the whole thread?

I don't understand what the big deal is. If you don't like something, don't do it. I personally don't like xenophilic romances, except for asari who are physiologically compatible with other species due to their unique biology. But dextro-chiral alien romances especially don't make any sense to me, since the chemistry between them and humans is so different and hostile toward one another. The food of one is literally poison for the other. I would never do a romance with Garrus or Tali because of that complete lapse in basic logic that would have to take place in Shepard's and the LI's minds. It's just too farfetched for me. I might express that opinion on occasion, but I certainly wouldn't start an entire thread to discuss it. There's really not much to say about it.

And regardless, I would never suggest that BioWare take out alien romances, even though I dislike them. Why? Because other people LOVE them. And I can easily avoid them. Win-win.

So more players being more happy is more better to my way of thinking.
