Ah yes, because guys hitting on girls and vice versa doesn't happen all the time, and obviously isn't the norm.

But is similarly unpleasant for some people. If the goal is to not make anyone uncomfortable, why not remove that ninjamancing?

Similarly to how full-out "I was previously straight but now bi" ninjamancing would creep even more people?

What a bunch of crap. I'm gay and I would fit in the first group. I would prefer to have new characters be s/s options (or at least only make a previously non-romancable character like Kasumi be a bi option.) I think I would feel cheated out of having a romance for the past two games if say Kaidan was bi. Plus, why would he wait all that time to show ANY indication whatsoever if he had any sort of feelings for you up until that point? To me, it would break immersion and be silly fanservice like the DA2 "EVERYONE is bi now!" approach. I'm so sick of everyone screaming "homophobe!" so quickly just because someone looks at things differently than you. You want people to be more open-minded? Open YOUR mind a little every once in awhile.

I'm not going to name names, but some people need to read this. Kudos, Fidget6

Also, I can't help but chuckle everytime I see you saying "as an antropologist".

You must really enjoy that crown that comes along with the Kingdom of Assumption and Missunderstanding. Seriously. Yesterday you were accussing me of non-existent situations (which you never replied to, might I add) and now you're doing it again. I didn't say anything about being hit on. Ever. I said that my character was ninjamanced by Ashley, which is different than being hit on. Being hit on is having a character come on to you, being ninjamanced is actually ending up in a sexual/romantic situation with a character.

As for the anthropologist part: so you chuckled twice? Congratulations! That must merit some sort of achievement unlock!

As for the Jacob comment: it's a joke. Kind of like half of the things you seem to assume and post about me. ;)

That being a false statement aside, just have no ninjamancing altogether.

Civil war? Really?

It's more like 5 or 6 people who are pissed, the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of people who don't care either way and the dozen or so who are in favor.

I really don't care. I'm glad the option will be in there for the people that wanted it though. More content for more people is never a bad thing I think.

Pretty much this.  The overwhelming majority don't even do romances.

Fair enough, ninjamancing is indeed the bane of many a Bioware fanboy. Of course, allowing the player to choose which romances they want activated and which not would also be a decent solution.

Sigh, this again? I know I shouldn't expect maturity from you, but still...

Also, Foxhound, what post didn't I respond to yesterday? I apologize in case you felt like I did that on purpose, but while I usually do try to respond as much people as possible, high profile posters like Xilizhra take precedence.

It was a post where you accused me of calling mods homophobes pre-ME 3 when I've only been on this forum since Vega was revealed. I'm not sure why you did, but you did. Then you called me prejudiced...without ever having any proof...or knowing my posting history. It was somewhat bizarre. I'm also not sure why you just did again in this thread either.

Oh, that. Well, that was just referring to the holebi community on here in general.

In any case, time to go to bed. Hope we'll all be able to get into a huge discussion again tomorrow.

Bye now! ^^

Edit: And Quole, please don't bother with calling other people idiots while you can't even troll properly.

Of course, the easiest way to prevent ninjamancing would be toggles (since I have little faith in people not screwing up the writers' best attempts otherwise)...but apparantly that would be "homophobic" or raise "unfortunate implications" or whatever.

I don't agree with the DA2 method, but calling it silly and stupid is going a bit too far. Even I can appretiate the thought behind it. The devs were obviously feeling generous and tried something new they thought could greatly please everybody. It obvously didn't go as well as they'd hoped, but I don't see anything wrong with trying it in itself.

Yeah, I'd rather have new S/S LI's too, if only because I'm not really a fan of any of the human male characters so far. Hopefully Vega will break that trend.

And yes, this "homphobe" name-calling needs to stop. There's probably some truth to it for some forum members, but simply presuming that of someone just because they disagree with you on whatever regarding S/S romances is plain rude. It also makes you look childish and unable to come up with a constructive, logical argument when you do that.

To be honest, the only time I see the word "homophobe" is when an opposer says "I know I'm going to be called a homophobe".

You weren't on the other thread last night then, a couple of people were calling someone a homophobe.

I agree that the DA2 method isn't stupid, but it's certainly silly. Having a handful of bisexuals in a grand city like Kirkwall isn't too unusual, especially not in the DA world, but having them all in your party is statistically... unusual? An anomaly, as it were. And I say this as a bisexual woman myself. Didn't really bother me, though. DAII had huuuge flaws unrelated to sexuality.

Still, it's a fantasy world and has no basis in modern times (or our universe, for that matter). Ancient Greece was notoriously promiscuous, as well; no naysayers from 2011 can change that either.

Regardless of who's gay, bi, or straight in ME3, I hope that the game itself is at least better than DAII. If not, I'll be pretty heartbroken.

Elves seem to be predisposed toward bisexuality, as of the elves we've seen who've had their sexuality explored at all, most of them have been bi (Zevran, Merrill, Fenris, Jethann). So it'd just be having two bisexuals in one party, which doesn't seem so strange, especially since it's more culturally acceptable in Thedas than here.

Elves didn't seem any more predisposed towards bisexuality than humans. Virtually Every bisexual elf had a human counterpart.

I don't think Civil War means what you think it means. I live in Atlanta and so far it's largely unburnt. If it were a true Civil War we'd have had burning houses (which would all have columns) and maids who are slaves and a pregnant blonde lady and Clark Gable looking especially dashing. The utter dearth of these things, and especially the complete lack of Clark Gable, is a clear sign there isn't a civil war.

Fiddle dee dee and all that.

Fair point.

However, I did amend my post before you sent your reply, remarking that Thedas is indeed a fantasy realm and trends of human civilization in 2011 Earth-1 terms may not be so rigidly mimmicked! ;]

This. As some know by now Iam in camp 1. I'm however fine with brandnew characters like vega  being bi for 3 off the bat because he's new no immersion breaking, no retcons, nothing he's just a guy we're getting to know if he hits on mshep no harm he assumed wrong like Liara. These brandnew characters in my mind are perfect choices for the new s/s option to be implemented with.

However past LI's shouldn't be turned bi / into s/s options for ME3 scene BW made a clear line in 2 for most of the cast a friend/love line between their s/s shep and their o/shep's respectively tarnishing and erasing that is poor writing to say the least on the subject.

And Group 1 aren't even completely against old characters becoming s/s!  There are whole bunch of unromanced  characters (that have been there in past games) that would make way more sense to make s/s at this point in the story because they are DEFINITELY blank slates as opposed to the others who's ships have sailed.
