Heaven forbid a game focused on killing things has blood in it. Does anyone remember Serious sam when you could make flowers and candy pop out of shot monsters? Maybe the OP would prefer this to dragon age's blood style?

Yes, your computer can run it fine probably. Check the min specs. Did you seriously think you couldn't run the game on that processor?

But to be serious, sometimes the blood seems a little over the top. It is not exactly a realistic looking effect to be sure. I love the finishing animations, those are amazing. The blood spatter on characters seems like it could be more randomized and dissapear faster.

i find the excessive gore amusing. Like when Walking Bomb goes off or I get a killing blow and lop the guy's head off, I'm still like "oh sick!" I think my favorite part is when a guy challenged me to a duel, and I accepted, and I got the decapitation finisher. It just felt so right.

A good reason to turn off the persistent gore is that it looks so horribly unrealistic in comparison to the rest of the game (yeah, except the whole dragons and demons thing). I don't mind the blood, but if it's a puddle of blood it should look like one or not be there...

If anything more gore is needed, I would think if someone smacked an axe into your side then it may make quite a significant gash. Maybe some L4D2 style gore would be nice. No more random blood splats on the characters though please.

Wow, what a stupid thread. So OP doesn't like gore, why do any of you care? It doesn't affect you. He only asked if it could be turned off.

If you get teh PC version of the game (If you have a good PC I recommend it) then you can simply turn the gore off in the options. It's very easy, no need for mods of any kind.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH all the people bashing Wii.

Guess you guys never heard of MadWorld for Wii.

http://www.gamespot....orld/index.html

Guess the people with Wii are far more manlier than those playing Dragon Age.

it really doesnt have to do with gore, but this is one of the few games i would actually play a female character in because of the lack of cloaks. without cloaks you do see your characters backside for most of the game in the middle of your screen and i would honestly rather see a ladies bottom than a mans.

however i just find it too effeminite with all the dialogue in the game talking to me like im a woman and having the sexual innuendos with female responses and so on.

To the OP, I didn't care for the gore in FO3 either, but it's less "in your face" in dragon age. Sometimes you'll decapitate someone, but the game doesn't zoom in on it and slow the action down--not for that effect, at least. It does for killing moves for ogres and dragons, but those aren't especially bloody. And, you can turn off persistent gore.

Ignore the idiots who think enjoying graphic violence makes them more mature.

I'm a big fan of RPGs, and have been playing them as long as I remember. I've always found gore to be a severe turn off in a game, and was considering buying Dragon Age: Origins for either PC or PS3.

Is there a way to get rid of the gore, without resorting to mods?

If I need to use a mod, please post one.

Should I get it on PC or PS3? (reasons other than mods, please)

Thanks

It sounds like you're more suited to just playing crappy Mario games on the Wii as you are clearly too much of a weakling to play any kind of game with mature themes. I think Hello Kitty's Island Adventure would be great for you.

Rofl, they need a mod for this.  Arrow of Slaying -> BOOM.

I actually find it a bit scary that I'm used to it now. We're all desensitized to violence, sex, and disturbing themes due to the media. It's really sad.

I'm not saying the media is a problem or anything. I just think it's interesting that people can watch things like District 9 and Saw and such easily.

Does it make you more adult and more of a man? I guess with our modern day standards.

I still hold Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird as my definition of a man. But congratulations to those of you who find the OP unmanly, you are able to play video games with gore in it. Hooray.

Maybe he finds the blood splatter on the characters distracting, or them having perfectly normal conversations while covered head to toe in blood just too strange to ignore? It's nothing to flame or insult people over. Unless of course maybe you're just trying to compensate for some sort of perceived deficiency.

Here's a free tip though. Enjoying gore (or not) isn't a measure of one's maturity.

Many of the posts in this thread are quite the yardstick, however.
