It sounds like you're more suited to just playing crappy Mario games on the Wii as you are clearly too much of a weakling to play any kind of game with mature themes. I think Hello Kitty's Island Adventure would be great for you.

Clearly a model of maturity.

I'm not the one turned off by a little blood here.

Maybe he finds the blood splatter on the characters distracting, or them having perfectly normal conversations while covered head to toe in blood just too strange to ignore? It's nothing to flame or insult people over. Unless of course maybe you're just trying to compensate for some sort of perceived deficiency.

Here's a free tip though. Enjoying gore (or not) isn't a measure of one's maturity.

Complaining about gore in Dragon Age is the equivalent of buying Modern Warfare 2 then complaining about the level of violence. It's stupid to make the purchase in the first place if it's an issue.

Edit: Especially when the damn dragon logo is shaped from a pool of blood. The word "dark" in "Dark Heroic Fantasy Epic" should not be ignored in this case.

He hasn't gotten it yet and is asking about the level of gore in the game.<_<

Pro tip: Brutal melee combat will involve blood. Lots of it.

Even so, the promotional materials used to market the game make it quite clear this isn't exactly Mario Party.

You seem very obsessed with the Wii. The original poster is simply clarifying the amount of gore in the game with first-hand accounts.

The promotional materials may or may not be 100% accurate. Take the characters in the trailers for example. The rest of us have already answered his question. You're not adding anything by bringing up your Wii jokes.

OP you should have posted in the tech support forums. The people on this forum, or any internet forum, are all mostly brain dead.

I play this game with full gore settings, and would really like to see a mod come out that gives more gore, so far we only have blood splatters, no real dismemberment :(. But you guys need to ****ing chill out, the OP plays his video games different then you, you do not need to bash on him for no reason, it makes you look like a huge ****ing tool.

The OP isn't complaining , he is simply asking if you can turn off gore.   Stop acting like a douchebag.

I would love a mod for more gore and dismemberments. But then again, I'm not one of those pansies that skipped "No Russian" in MW2. I definitely love that stuff.

The gore in DAO is juvenile, gratuitous and absurd. It adds absolutely nothing to the "mature" feel of the game - instead, it's more often a source of unintended comedy.

Everyone who responded to the OP with "Get a Wii" or "What did you expect, this is a Mature game" is a cretin, pure and simple.

You are absolutely right.  There was no need to give the OP grief over his question.  Some people look for any little thing about which to be negative.

The whole point of griefing him is that it doesn't make sense to buy a "dark heroic fantasy" game and then say you're turned off by the gore. Anyone that thinks gore in a dark game with mature themes is "juvenile, gratuitous and absurd" should just **** off and go buy a Wii.

If I bought Grand Theft Auto and then asked if there were an option to not kill anyone or use guns I would probably be flamed. Granted, he's not complaining about the violence, but if this is an issue you're better suited avoiding these kinds of titles altogether.

This is hysterical...  I didn't think it was possible, but it seems you actually are stupid enough to think that those comical-looking splashes of red make a game more "mature".

I'm a big fan of RPGs, and have been playing them as long as I remember. I've always found gore to be a severe turn off in a game, and was considering buying Dragon Age: Origins for either PC or PS3.

Is there a way to get rid of the gore, without resorting to mods?

If I need to use a mod, please post one.

Should I get it on PC or PS3? (reasons other than mods, please)

Thanks

Gore? A turn off? In a game about death, betrayal, and destruction?

Interesting...

In which case, those same comical-looking splashes of red could simply be ignored and not seen as anything but the background trees. Really, there is no reason to do without, but if someone wants to do without, it's their choice.

But saying that it is not needed, is like saying you don't need character models either. You could simply read a book about the game instead.
