No they should make her hideous.....it will break the typical cliche of the hero getting a hot love interest.  It is sad really that in these days of scifi, so many people want ALIENS to look quite HUMAN.  Doesn't that destroy the point of them being ALIENS in the first place?

Artists draw from life. For anything that doesn't look HUMAN, they take from ANIMALS (unless the alien is some kind of mass of energy/blob/etc; which also has been done many times over). One is not exclusive to the other by any means, but it's these two wells of which 99% of any life is drawn.

To make a love interest more hideous in your terms is to make something less human and more something that society frowns upon, as you can imagine. So of course they use that "cliche" of an attractive alien (more human-like) because it's biologically driven by *drumroll* humans. Well... at least by most of us.

There is nothing wrong with making something less human when it was never human to begin with.

And yes i understand why writers make aliens look human, that doesn't mean it is always the right path to go.

But by subjecting the "Alien" to look humanish, you are destroying the many things that can affect humanity if said Alien did not look human like at all.  After all, we humans tend to be afraid of the unknown, and in scifi where mankind encounters aliens that look nothing like them, but perhaps like a monster out of a fairytale, then it creates a sense of fear and paranoia.  It makes the story even more interesting.  After all humanity already has to deal with people of different cultures, nations, races, ethnicities, ect, so by throwing in something that is completley alien creates a good twist.

Besides, the more aliens that appear human looking, the more Mankind becomes less and less "unique".

I think Tali should have red eyes, that sure is something that symbolizes a "Monster" in fiction.  I would cringe if her eyes turned out to be extremely human looking, and then hear talimancers scream "I KNEW SHE HAD BEAUTFUL EYES!!!!!!!!"

...how hideous are we talking here? Vorcha and Yahg ugly?

If we get to see what Quarians look like under the masks I just hope they like an alien, not a space elf or humanoid with pointy ears and purple skin tone.

I would prefer they never reveal her appearance, as the mystique is what adds to the appeal. My assumption though is the particular fan art that looks predominately human-esque or the supposed "space elf" is the likely candidate and I frankly cannot blame them. Their objective ought to be to please Tali fans despite the hilarity that would inevitably ensue from "predator face."

Flee from the Guerilla war this forum will become for one thing.

Though I suppose that's liable to happen, no matter what appearance they decide on.

IF we see them I would hope they are like any humaniod race. Some are ugly, some are pretty. Which is which is up to the beholder. I could understand if they gave Tali a pretty face, that does not mean that they have to be a race of elf-like supermodels, it can simply mean Tali is pretty.

Whatever happens with Tali, people are going to complain afterwards. It's a no-win situation for BW. They won't make her ugly (be funny if they did), but somebody's definition of beauty will probably be different. Just make their homeworld unstable due to dark energy, can't go home, can't take their lids off, problem solved.Image IPB

It seems logical to me that asking these questions twice a day here in BSN, they will not make quarians look hideous...

Too late. Have you seen their legs? Nothing pretty can grow out of those mutations.

Of course there's nothing wrong with making something less human, but I was just touching on the whole idea of why they're made attractive. As for wanting more alien aliens... I also think that would prove a more interesting concept, but it's mostly irrelevant to Quarians seeing how they are already clearly humanoid (body wise and slightly hidden face). I don't even think red eyes would be monstrous since they're already shown to be at least an amalgamation of human eyes.

I have no personal stake in Tali's appearence one way or the other.

However, if you are a male shep, she finds you attractive - and since she can see your face, this presupposes that there must be something about humans with which Quarians can identify - which suggests that they must be fairly similar to us.

Yes, I know that in that bar on Illium there was the Turian dude hitting on the Quarian girl (one of the best side-plays in the game next to the bachelor party) so obviously, at least some Turians find Quarians attractive as well - there but that might also be explained by the complete lack of Turian females...

Nevertheless, for Tali to want to be romantically involved with Shepherd, it has to be more than the respect and admiration for his character and actions - romance implies physical attraction. Physical attraction implies some similarity of appearence - eyes, nose, mouth, chin, etc. in the proper proportions. And if Quarians are similar to us, then she should be be close to what we find conventionally "attractive."

Finally, I will personally be disappointed if they do not reveal her face - they set it up brilliantly in ME2 as a "gotcha" moment but in ME3 I really want them to pay up. If Shep got to see her, we should too.

Edited for sticky keyboard missing letters...

No, I wouldn't. And I doubt the Talimancers would be disappointed, as it's clear her personality and voice are what matters to them.

this is the best idea so far. I'm wondering, why can't rou remove the mask of a dead quarian in the game? you see a few and it's not like they'll be mad 'cause they are dead.

That remindes me of a cartoon (not the TV type)that showed Tali's face as ugly and a mention that she needs a bag over her head before they have sex.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder.

Im pretty sure she is not cthulhu under that helmet, but you better not give something too human looking either.

I was actually thinking this myself. As for the Turian liking the Quarian girl... Garrus finds femshep attractive so that's another link to them being attracted to similar species. Kind of a stretch, but whatever :P

Actually Garrus isn't physically attracted to Fem Shep. He's drawn to her personality.

While I don't play as Fem Shep and haven't done the Garrus romance, I have seen all of the romance cutscenes on youtube, and Garrus struggles to compliment Fem Shep because she's human, and human features aren't appealing to Turians.

Garrus: "If you were a Turian I'd be complimenting you on your fringe. So your..uh..hair looks nice. And your waist is....very supportive."

You know what I would like? Some similarity with turians.. I mean, it's not like dextro-based life is all that common, they have to have more in common than the same number of fingers, right?

Same way that we resemble say, tigers?  Or maybe sharks?  After all, we're all based on levo-amino acids.  Its the chirality of their amino acids, its literally the most basic and simple element of life.  That they share that base means nothing more.
