Oh I know she gets over it. I just would've preferred if my Hawke can needle her. He can needle Carver (which is probably why I like Carver more). Hawke can't even e halfway as cruel to her as he can to Carver. Heck even when letting Meredith kill her you're railroaded into being somewhat nice.  I would've loved being able to play the elder sibling who couldn't stand her. Alas.

Yea, they set Bethany up to be the lovable little sister that you MUST protect. Which is also why I like Carver more. because you can tease him. I long for a "So, carver.. about this letter from  Peaches I got this morning" extra loudly, in front of their mother. Complete with over-dramatic mother-gasping.

They dropped the ball in the sibling department a little bit. There should have been tons more "pick on your baby bro/sis" lines ;p

I was about to say that "maybe they didn't want Hawke to be that much of a dick," and then I was like "haha, you can still murder the Circle, what was I thinking?" So maybe it was an oversight. But I could never stand being mean to Bethany.

Ah which is probably why I don't like her, I don't dislike her but...she's kind of just there. I really don't miss her when she's gone though I do like her as a warden because the bitterness and resentment could've been nice if Hawke was allowed to do anything with it other than "oh. Well maybe you'll be better later Beth." as it is it's just bland. Better than CM but not by much. It makes her a smidge more interesting. Might've been more so if Hawke and her played off each other like Hawke and Carver.

Yes there should've been. Especially about Carver and Merrill.

FFFFFF YES. Must pick on carver about his Elf Fettish. Because you know he totally has the hots for Fenris, too.

OMG SO MANY GOOD IDEAS:devil: *pulls open word and starts writing*

Bethany's anger is rather justified as a Warden, and as a circle mage she finds more of a niche and can accept her fate. She seems almost relieved as a circle mage because she is not running. She is not putting anyone in danger.

As a Warden she hates. She hates the darkspawn because of what they did to her home and her family. She hates the life she has to lead now, fighting endlessly and living a life of solitude. She has a dialogue when you meet up with her again about how she thought it better to push everyone away. That if she was cold and hurtful to others she would be able to accept their loss easier. THAT is why she isn't so nice to you or greets you with open arms.

She doesn't really hate Hawke, per say, but as a Warden she pushes any personal ties away and bottles her emotions. As she says -- Wardens covet nothing. Not even family. There is no doubt she misses Hawke, but she isn't going to allow herself that emotional onslaught. She is using a defense mechanism that she has developed since being tossed out alone to the Wardens. No ties. No family. A duty, and that is about all. She hates it because it is isolated, lonely, and not what she wanted from her life.

As for the hate -- Legacy banter has a good one with Fenris.

Fenris: You must hate the darkspawn, after what they did to your home.

Bethany: I have a lot of hate. But it's not so focused. It's...deeper for a Warden. It's been a struggle to let that go.

Fenris: But you have?

Bethany: Let's call it a work in progress.

If she joins the circle she actually gives reasons why she has gotten over her hate. As a Warden she is struggling with it. As she said.. not so focused. Not on Hawke, but on her role as a Warden in general.

It isn't narcissistic to want Bethany to be kind or say something kind, but it is justifiable and understandable why Bethany does react the way she does. And it isn't all about Hawke. It's about HER and how she has coped.

Well said. This sums up my reasons for why I put Bethany as a Warden.

Other may say that putting her in the Circle is a better life for her --which it is-- but I prefer her being a Warden much more interesting. And I don't realy have a clue what she's doing/did as a Warden, but I hipe it's something of great importance, and I hope of getting to see more of her in the future.

I put her in the Circle in my first playthrough because after Leandra spoke with Hawke just before the expedition I thought something bad would happen to her if I took her to the Deep Roads.

I agree that her being a Warden is more interesting. If Stroud is any indication of what the Wardens in Ansburg are like, then no wonder she's unhappy. At least the newly recruited Ferelden Wardens in Awakening became friends. The Free Marches Wardens seem like a cold group. from the little we see of them in the main game and Legacy.

I'm looking at the map of the Free Marches right now, and Ansburg looks like it's really far away from Kirkwall. Does anyone ever mention how many days away it is?
