I received an email from EA/BioWare stating everyone who buys the game before Nov.30 gets an exclusive item called "The Edge." I have done so, and have not received said item. Bug, or not?

@nisallik: Very cool. Thanks a bunch!
@mikey3k: Go to the DA program files, open the DAUpdater, and open these items from there. The items will appear in the "Installed Content" tab of the DLC menu.

Specifically, I am trying to use the "Select DAZIPs" button on the DAUpdater but can't then open any kind of files...

First make sure you know where the files are, then just open the updater via Program Files, click "Select DAZips," highlight the files, and click "Install DAZIPS." The items should appear on the "Installed Content" tab of the DLC menu.

I did it a bit differently than Rothwar. I down loaded the zips using the community provided links. Then, I found the dragon age folder and browsed til I found the bin_ship folder, and then browsed around til I found the daupdater.exe file name with the silver shield next to it, and ran it. The updater allows you to browse to the location you downloaded the dazip files. And, bam next thing you know you are rockin so sweet gear.

That happened for me Rivenwynd001. I just changed the .zip extension to .dazip and it all worked fine.
Also you can drag and drop files from another window into the daupdater, which i found easier.

same they are zip files not DAzip

Just rename the extentions to .dazip, run the updater, drop them into the updater and they will install fine. They really are .dazip files, but if you have winzip or winrar on your machine, they will DL as zip files. In reality *all they are are JUST ZIP files!* LOL
.dazip stands for "Dragon Age Zip" LOL but it's a STANDARD ZIP format

Thanks for the tip Star, and i'll add to what you said.. change the zip extension to dazip when downloading, not after its downloaded.. shows as DAO_PRC_PROMO_VGL_1.0 when downloading.. add dazip at this point so it reads DAO_PRC_PROMO_VGL_1.0.dazip and it'll DL as a dazip file.. hope this helps others.
Also durring a search a bit ago I stumbled on this site looks like it has some other DA DL items in it.. maybe worth a look-see.

I've downloaded all the non-(Requires Authorization) items here and they show up and work fine in my game.. gonna see if I can get lucky and try one of the (Requires Authorization) things now and see if it will work too.

Thanks so much all. All I had to do was rename the files with a .dazip extension and voila! Much appreciated.

[install path]\\bin_ship\\daupdater.exe
example:
I've got it on steam, so my path is:
D:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\daupdater.exe
[note: eah set of back slashes is only one backslash, I don't know why they decided to escape backslashes and then leave them in the text]
Also, downloading dazips which need authorisation when you don't have the correct authorisation isn't a good idea, it just gets in the way as it'll keep popping up to tell you that you don't have authorisation (not during game, but sometimes when you load a game from the menu and always when you start a new game, from what I've seen).
Anyone know how to uninstall dazips?

Documents/BioWare/DragonAge/Addins. Delete the files of the addin you don't want. Or uncheck the "Enabled" box in the "Installed Content" tab of the DLC menu.

Since the addin was never enabled it was impossible to disable it in the DLC menu (which seems to add to the stupidity of that authorisation check; if I haven't attempted to enable it then why tell me that I'm unauthorised all the time?)
I've now deleted the folder for the addin through My Documents and it seems to have worked, so many thanks for that
