Add Metroid Prime 2 to the list of crappy multiplayer.

That's a different list entirely: the point was to list games that have MP while still having a good singleplayer mode.

Seriously though I think mp campaign could be fun. Whoever hosts plays as Shep and your buddies as squaddies.

Then how would the people joining have their progress saved?

I haven't put that much thought into it. If a middle ground exists between how Borderlands and Dungeon Siege 3 handle it that would probably be good.

Okay, I'll give you that one with Bioshock and Far Cry 2, but Dead Space 2 was still pretty good.

Deal.

I'm thinking MP would come out closer to an MMO rip-off then anything like deathmatch or multiplayer cliche's.

Seriously, none asked for MP. Why? WHY? :pinched:

That's not true at all.  I've seen plenty of people on here who've asked for MP.  The anti-MP people just tend to be louder and more prolific.

And [apparently] more numerous.

On all the other gaming websites I've visited anti-mp always outweighed pro (in both threads + polls)

OK....and?  More numerous means just that: more numerous.  It has nothing to do with whether or not pro-MP people exist.  Which they do.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here and call BS on this. Until there's a statement by BioWare, or actual concrete details with screenshots, something on the more official manner, lets keep MP discussion in one thread:

That’s right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.

Come on, this kind of takes it a few steps beyond "I call BS", doesn't it?

Tell you what, "Real" JayDee,

When you have the issue in your hand on October 19th, then we'll see. Just another week now. Surely you can fill up your time with something else.

Well, my save data has gotten ****ed up on Borderlands twice from joining someone's game.

It's how democracy works.
Good example would be the FemShep vote. <_<

Well, in full knowledge of the futility of this, I am going to ask that people stop @#$%ing saying "I never asked for this" as if it were somehow still clever and funny.

As I'm sure you've noticed, the game industry is not a democracy.  The fact that they occasionally let people vote on stuff doesn't change that in the least.

Hmm, well I was wrong. If we get a 4 hour co-op campaign so they can use the online pass and put 'multiplayer' on the box, then fine. If they attempt to actually make proper MP, it WILL FAIL.
studios DEDICATED to multiplayer make MP games and FAIL, why play ME when I can play GOW which is essentially the same but with, wait, better combat and more game modes and improved gameplay flow.

That'd be one short list, anyway Saints Row 2 had good single player and ok co-op (crappy MP/PvP though).

Bugger, I've heard about that happening to people and picking up quest glitches. I haven't played much mp in Borderlands but it was with people I know rather than randoms and I always hosted.

You only stated that they were louder and more prolific which implies that they're just a vocal minority.
The fact that anti-mp are more numerous is worth mentioning.

Yeah, I've got a level 45 soldier with the first mission, that can't be completed, so I'm just stuck with it on my list.

Javie you best be trolling. That or you're just a really twp mod. You're meant to keep the bigger thread (with the new news and 39 pages of discussion it)alive and lock the smaller one that has nothing to do with the latest news, not the other way around. Now you're going to see lots of people posting the same article in many different threads because there isn't one big one discussing it.

At the very least edit the title and op of the thread you're directing people to with the latest news/rumours or whatever you wish to call it.

It's a futile list, actually. One person's example of a good singleplayer mode will inevitably be another person's example of how multiplayer ruined it.

Not sure if it has been brought up yet, but L.A. Noire (side note: one of the most overrated games ever) was developed specifically without multi-player so that the single-player would be that much better. It turned out that the single-player sucked horribly anyway. I'm not in the pro-MP camp--I'm strictly against it in an RPG, or at least a game that pretends to be one--but there's an example of a game which decided to forgo MP for the sake of SP and it didn't work out.

The problem for me is that co-op or multiplayer fundementally changes the way the game is played.

A big part of the combat is the tactical pause when pulling up the weapons or power wheel, something that will have to be removed if there is more than one human player present.

Concerns for me come from if they make it part of the main campaign. Obviously they'll want to make it a good experience for the co-op partner as well and will that person really want to wait while I spend 30 minutes to an hour going through all the conversation options in an area.

If they make it a separate side story and remove the converation interaction, then that removes the reason most people enjoy the Mass Effect games in the first place.

I'm not against co-op or multiplayer in principal, I just can't see how it fits into a game series that up to now has always been about creating your own story.
