Multiplayer in MASS EFFECT 3!? I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!!!!!
Well, in full knowledge of the futility of this, I am going to ask that people stop @#$%ing saying "I never asked for this" as if it were somehow still clever and funny.
Adam Jensen NEVER ASKED for people who think they're clever to run his catchphrase into the ground. Poor guy, first he got augmented against his will and now this.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here and call BS on this. Until there's a statement by BioWare, or actual concrete details with screenshots, something on the more official manner, lets keep MP discussion in one thread:
That’s right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.

Come on, this kind of takes it a few steps beyond "I call BS", doesn't it?
When you have the issue in your hand on October 19th, then we'll see. Just another week now. Surely you can fill up your time with something else.
Yes sir! I won't have the issue in my hand ever, but I'll wait for other people to have. I was just going by other posters comments that this was respectable magazine, so I assumed they wouldn't make stuff like that up. But if that's out of line in any way, I'll be nice and quiet now.
Just why do I get the uncomfortable feeling you are questioning my "Real"ness?

I hope ME3 has co-op and online multiplayer. If the multiplayer is as good as Uncharted 2 it will be worth it!
Multiplayer could be good. I can't imagine co-op even being playable.

...Concerns for me come from if they make it part of the main campaign. Obviously they'll want to make it a good experience for the co-op partner as well and will that person really want to wait while I spend 30 minutes to an hour going through all the conversation options in an area.
If they make it a separate side story and remove the converation interaction, then that removes the reason most people enjoy the Mass Effect games in the first place...
If mp was part of the main campaign conversations with npc's could be handled like Dungeon Siege 3 where your buddies take a vote on what dialogue option to choose and the host makes the final decision.
Although it would make the romance scenes awkward as ass

It will be playable if it's the SP levels with hordes of husks after you where you and a bunch of team mates fight them off in a mode separate from SP.
I'm just going to ignore you. Because you seem bent on this whole, husk (zombie) hordes thing. If you're looking for something like that, go to left for dead 2.

Oh EA, you're so silly. You really "had to Dead Space 2" Mass Effect 3. I so never wanted to see this, but the inevitable happened. I hope, I really, really hope that the mp feature is a get in get out, friends play as squadmates on missions and nothing else ffs.
And Jesus, this could have been said the first time, all this time lying (first Game Informer) and all the evasions to the question later all of that in the end was BS. Bioware should be completely honest with their fans but I think that's what happens when everything goes to the level of big money and corporations.
Ahhhhhh, whatever. It's done and we and Bioware shall DEAL WITH IT.

I really cant see MP doing anything but dilute the SP campaign....I may be wrong and it may be a good thing for ME3 or it may be a different ME project, like an MMO
But ME3 really doesnt need MP.....as the old adage goes...IF IT AINT BROKE....DONT FIX IT BIOWARE!!!!!

So... so sad........... On another note I wonder how they are going to implement this? I don't think co-op on the main campaign is likely. They will most likely have a separate storyline or just a multiplayer Deathmatch/competitive mode. Here's to hoping it's as fun as Assassins Creed's (unlike Dead Space) but it doesn't take forever to find a match if it is. Seriously the only reason I didn't keep playing AC Multiplayer was because getting a match together just sucked that bad.
like five months after the game came out, I tried playing the online again, took me five minutes to find a match and I was disconnected near the end.

Add Metroid Prime 2 to the list of crappy multiplayer.
The point of the question is about games with multiplayer ruining the single player. MP2's single player was great.

Far Cry 2 campaign sucked.
Dead Space 2 felt like a shooter and not horror anymore.
Bioshock 2 campaign sucked aswell.
AC: Brotherhood has alot more shorter campaign when you compare it to the second one.
Don't know for Driver: SN never played it, but i agree for RDR, Portal 2, BG and Uncharted though.
I see the IGN has gotten deep into your veins? Or is it metacritic? If you played Far Cry 2 for the story, I feel sorry for you. :-P Games don't "suck" because it has just a couple of things wrong with it. I'm not even sure I'd say DA2 "sucks." And that's saying a lot!

Hmm, well I was wrong. If we get a 4
hour co-op campaign so they can use the online pass and put
'multiplayer' on the box, then fine. If they attempt to actually make
proper MP, it WILL FAIL.
studios DEDICATED to multiplayer make MP
games and FAIL, why play ME when I can play GOW which is essentially the
same but with, wait, better combat and more game modes and improved
gameplay flow.
Wow... just wow. You think Gears of War is the same as Mass Effect. Riiiighhhttt....

That's
not true at all. I've seen plenty of people on here who've asked for
MP. The anti-MP people just tend to be louder and more prolific.
I asked for it. If you're gonna make this so personal, I guess that means they like me better.

Seriously though I think mp campaign could be fun. Whoever hosts plays as Shep and your buddies as squaddies.
Then how would the people joining have their progress saved?
Same way as in Neverwinter Nights? Probably not, though. Probably you just pick a squadmate of the two that Shepard takes with him and fight alongside, possibly commenting. Another possibility is that you can create or import your own character in the same way you did Shepard. This seems to be what the cover implies by showing 3 Shepards. Of course, the alternate character wouldn't be able to engage in romances, probably not do much on the Normandy, and would have a different voice actor that would *comment* on conversations, not affect them. Since everyone is the same level in ME, you don't have to worry about that in the save file. Since almost all weapons/armor can be duplicated, you don't have to worry about loot either. If your buddy doesn't play a mission with you, no big deal. They'll be the same level as everyone else and have the same loot available the next time they play. The second character would either have no decisions they could make - and only comment on things - or have a few of their own decisions that ONLY they could make. The character will be saved on the host's hard drive, or downloaded from EA's servers. Seriously, the way ME is set up, it's a non-issue.

BioWare is EA. EA is BioWare.
But then, BioWare had multiplayer in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and Neverwinter Nights. It's not exactly uncharted territory.
