Come on guys, MP could be fun.... imagine biotic attacks going off everywhere, customizing your weapons before a match, and your armor and character, or even a horde like mode against wave after wave of geth, a wave of raging krogan, or a against a team of yahg...

Could be pretty fun...

true but what are the chances of the development of MP not detracting from the development of the SP campaign?

Multiplayer in MASS EFFECT 3!? I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!!!!!

Well, in full knowledge of the futility of this, I am going to ask that people stop @#$%ing saying "I never asked for this" as if it were somehow still clever and funny.

Adam Jensen NEVER ASKED for people who think they're clever to run his catchphrase into the ground.  Poor guy, first he got augmented against his will and now this.

Adam Jensen never asked for cake, because it was a lie.
(it was bound to happen)
Regarding MP, as another person so eloquently put it, this would be the fourth game by Bioware to incorporate it, at the very least.
I don't see the big deal.

That already sounds more fun than Mako exploration or converting useless weapons into magical gel. Certainly better than wasting time XP grinding and clicking through repetitive dungeons/landscapes

That's a different list entirely: the point was to list games that have MP while still having a good singleplayer mode.

That'd be one short list, anyway Saints Row 2 had good single player and ok co-op (crappy MP/PvP though).

Baseball bat, the Saints most deadly weapon when it came to MP. Shame they took out Protect Tha Pimp in 2 that was the only game mode in 1 that was remotely tolerable.

Anyway back on topic, I'm not exactly excited at the prospect of multiplayer but if it's being included I'm sure it'll be half decent. I just hope if it has co-op it's in a seperate mode, because nothing would ruin the mood quite like my friends Vandershep running around acting like an idiot while I'm shouting at him to  "stfu" while I'm talking to Garrus.

Yeah, the game glitching because someone playing has a crappy connection. Getting rid of the soldier's best ability, and fights that take forever, because no one wants to jump out of cover and get shot.

I'd say not likely. There have been a number of games that were singleplayer then got multiplayer and were still good.

The problem with MP is not the MP itself but the fact that games with MP tend to have shorter campaigns than their single- player only predecessors

Shoot you? Why not shoot the one who said something that stupid? I don't even care about multiplayer and that arguement makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

It's not about "Multiplayer has been done by Bioware before". It's about "Does Multiplayer fit in Mass Effect 3"

I don't think we will know the answer until it comes out.

The part I like best about this "debate" is the people who are reflexively against multiplayer are imagining how bad it could be, and the people who are reflexively for multiplayer are imagining how good it could be.

Everyone's still making assumptions based on literally no data.

Since no-one here has any idea what form it will take, it's not really "about" anything other than hand-wringing.

Oh EA, you're so silly. You really "had to Dead Space 2" Mass Effect 3. I so never wanted to see this, but the inevitable happened. I hope, I really, really hope that the mp feature is a get in get out, friends play as squadmates on missions and nothing else ffs.

And Jesus, this could have been said the first time, all this time lying (first Game Informer) and all the evasions to the question later all of that in the end was BS. Bioware should be completely honest with their fans but I think that's what happens when everything goes to the level of big money and corporations.

Ahhhhhh, whatever. It's done and we and Bioware shall DEAL WITH IT.

How do you know that EA is behind this?

You assume far too little.  Eventually you have to put 2 and 2 together and come to a conclusion.

Time for Dwight Schrute fact checks.

Fact: EA are greedy
Fact: BioWare are part of EA now
Fact: ME1 was developed by BioWare
Fact: ME2 was developed by BioWare/EA
Fact: ME2 is more shooter than RPG
Fact: Most shooters have multiplayer
Opinion: Most shooters are commercial diarrhea
Opinion: ME2 is and ME3 will be commercial diarrhea

I'm just not seeing how you can't pin this on EA.  They did the same exact thing with Dead Space 2.

Isn't the MP component being developed by a different Bioware team?

My only qualm is that SP get's shafted in someway, I know Dead Space and Mass Effect are different games altogether, but it took me 12-13 hours to complete Dead Space 1, yet it took me only 7 and half hours to complete Dead Space 2 and that came on 2 discs.

:o

If BioWare annouce MP and hope that they announce that Mass Effect 3 will ship on 3 discs, two for the campaign and one for MP.

For the Xbox players.

Ideally though, you'd want to release as polished of a game as possible. It would be pretty gutsy to try out MP on the last installment of a single player trilogy, especially when the last installment is so complicated in using save data from the previous two games.

How do I know BW won't screw up MP? Because they wouldn't allow it to be bad. Simple.

As has been said earlier in the thread, Bioware has put multiplayer in their games before they were bought by EA.

But the whole "Everything is EA's fault!" or "EA is evil!" thing is getting old....

If you are ACTUALLY curious, you could look back a few pages.

As far as further predictions by me... I'd say that while the first player is running around the ship talking to people, the second player can customize their weapons for the next round. Or get popcorn. :D

Yeah, I've got that issue.  Not a single quote in there about how there wouldn't be MP in ME3.  Re-read the little blurb about MP, and apply a little of your newly-acquired hindsight.  If anything, it should have been taken as an indication that they were working on it but hadn't yet fully committed to shipping with it.

Fact:  Correlation does not equal causation.
Fact:  Who is to "blame" is irrelevant
Opinion:  What matters is what multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 will be like, and since none of us has any friggin' clue, drawing conclusions now is premature.

Casey Hudson already said single player is the same length as ME2. Just for comparison, before ME2 came out he said that it would be 20-30 hours long.

Wouldn't that be the SAFEST time to try it? So nobody complains that their second player data doesn't transfer over?
