You assume far too little.  Eventually you have to put 2 and 2 together and come to a conclusion.

Time for Dwight Schrute fact checks.

Fact: EA are greedy
Fact: BioWare are part of EA now
Fact: ME1 was developed by BioWare
Fact: ME2 was developed by BioWare/EA
Fact: ME2 is more shooter than RPG
Fact: Most shooters have multiplayer
Opinion: Most shooters are commercial diarrhea
Opinion: ME2 is and ME3 will be commercial diarrhea

I'm just not seeing how you can't pin this on EA.  They did the same exact thing with Dead Space 2.

Oh Jesus! Companies want to MAKE MONEY?! They are Satan incarnate, the greedy ****s! Because before EA corrupted Holy Bioware, all they did was sell games and donate all of the proceeds to starving children in Africa.

Wild declarations aside, I don't even see how co-op will work well in ME3 or could even be any fun. Going off of ME2, honestly a grand amount of the time you're planet scanning. Or just talking to people in non-combat situations, and the missions aren't really very long. Whoever's co-oping with you would be bored pretty quickly.

There's a difference between normal business operations and what EA do.  EA buy the **** out of everything and do as much as they can to monopolize every genre they can.  See: Madden, mainly.  In 10 years look at MMO's, shooters, every sports game, racing games, RPG's, etc.

Normally I'd be fine with that because EA have a lot of money so they should be able to make good games.  But they don't.  EA are like McDonald's, in that they make products with the perfect amount of money where it's acceptable for purchase but it's never anything groundbreaking or unique at all.

Whenever a company sells PC games for $59.99 I think it's a pretty safe bet to say they've joined the greed machine.

Yeah, that never happens... <_<

Usually not with a trusted magazine, like this one.

Some people don't like playing video games with their friends.

Also some people don't like playing video games they can't play with their friends.

It would be good of everyone to keep these two facts in mind.

This more than anything is what gets to me. Come on BioWare, you're going to get one hell of a s***storm whether you confirm MP now or later. The number of times it's been denied by Casey and others will just make things 10x worse. Just say it's in and take your lumps.

- Also the strong possibility that the delay was to allow more time to cram some half-assed MP into ME3 makes me sad.

These are my reasons for why multiplayer could work or not.
Positive: If there is coop and the dialogue system works much like swtor's dialogue system (everyone must be in conversation and the person who talks is decided by a roll) then I would be happy.
Negative: classes as they stand in ME2 are way out of balance and would need serious retweaking just to make it remotely fair. Regarding dialogue, if two people are in a conversation and it is a romance conversation it would be very stupid if the other player rejects your love interest while you wanted to pursue it. This would lead to many problems with peoples playthroughs since characters have simulated emotions and will react to your choices (Jack is a good example).

No, we don't know that.  We can certainly suspect, and even do so strongly, but we don't actually know.

Well yea, but put 2 and 2 together.......

Photoshop has nothing to do with this. And this seems to be true, as flat out lying is a bad thing for magazines that want to be trusted.....

The reality of multiplayer:

"Which one of you is Shepherdicus?"

"My name is Shepherdicus"

"No, I am Shepherdicus"

"I am Shepherdicus."

They shopped their own cover?  Or are we going to assume that some nefarious hacker trolls defaced their website?

Bioware.... why you do this... why why!??? Why couldn't you just wait till after ME3... why would you do this??

PS I am still keeping my pre-order and I won't touch MP.

Fact of the matter is I long ago accepted that ME3 probably will have MP. But i don't care much for it and won't touch it... ever. I just hope Bioware knows that throwing in MP is just going to pull some fairweather COD/Gears fans who don't know the lore of ME the way those who played ME1 and 2 do. The question will be, will there be enough increase in sales to justify the money they've spent on adding multiplayer?

Yeah,
I've got that issue.  Not a single quote in there about how there
wouldn't be MP in ME3.  Re-read the little blurb about MP, and apply a
little of your newly-acquired hindsight.  If anything, it should have
been taken as an indication that they were working on it but hadn't yet
fully committed to shipping with it.

I'm not gonna re-read it, I'll just trust what you said. Well, I was pretty sure at that time they weren't gonna make it on ME3. Whatever.

What makes me sad, is that they could have been more honest.

Nothing I've read ever led me to believe they had ruled it out, only didn't want to go on the record one way or the other.

RyuGuitarFreak wrote..

And they've given the rpg elitist crowd even more ammo to whine here and make this hell again.

They don't require any encouragement.

Yeah, yeah. They never completely denied that, but the words they said would make people go to conclusions. "We're focused on make the best sp experience possible" or even the guy at Gamescom, I'm not sure, but I believe he said "no multiplayer". It's the part that makes me sad. If I'm correct that this was decided with the meeting with the shareholders they could have said on E3 or Comic Con already, not going to specifics because I do believe they weren't ready there but just say what people want to listen.

Anyway, let's wait until what BW says something.

All I know is, co-op is much more fun than some stupid kid yelling expletives at you. You all should give it a chance. It's standalone. Bioware made sure it didn't affect the finale. And why would they let it? They've spent all their time creating this world, they're not going to gimp the final entry to Shepard's saga..

It's co-op. It's completley un-related to the story. It's not going to affect singleplayer.
Sounds like Red Dead Redemption to me... and wouldn't you know it, that's actually fun.
For all the people who are going to quit Mass Effect because of this. BYE! DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOUR ASS ON THE WAY OUT!
Seriously... co-op... NOT competitve multiplayer. Surely you have SOME friends.. right?

Do we know for a fact it's co-op? I'm not negating it isn't, it¡'s just that I haven't seen evidence either way.

Nope, not buying it - you'll have to do better.  Madden and other sports games are released yearly because sports leagues have seasons, and there's only so much innovating you can do on a mandatory one-year development cycle.  Think about these things before you parrot the LOLMADDEN line.

You also conveniently failed to mention NBA Elite 11, which EA Sports cancelled because it was garbage and 2k Sports put out what was not only a better product by far, but one of the consensus best sports games ever made.  Their professional and creative standards simply didn't allow them to release NBA Elite, because it would harm their brand.  But because they didn't bother trying to get any money back for their disaster in sales, that entire project was a loss.

I'm not saying what happened is typical for EA, but to leave it out of any discussion regarding how EA works is to betray your agenda.

I honestly don't blame the industry for that.  Since when is it reasonable for consumers to expect things will always be the same price?

Oh, right.  Never.

I see this going very bad.

I'm betting it will be simply a GoW style competitive MP with pre set weapon loadout (possibly a shotgun and an assault rifle). SAMC troops VS Cerberus troops probably 4 on 4. No powers, pick-up swap weapons only....maybe they will add extra features butthat will be the core of it

Right, but correlation is correlation.  And correlation is useful in speculation.

Sure, if you draw useful or revealing correlations.

BioWare is and always has been greedy too, or they wouldn't have taken EA's money.  But they're a for-profit company, holding it against them (or EA) is like admonishing a crippled guy for hogging the wheelchair.

Your other observations - such as the implication that EA forced BioWare to make ME2 "more shootery" and if they did, only because they thought it would make more money - would stand up to about five minutes of scrutiny, at least to the extent that other possibilities can reasonably inferred to be true, thus rendering your absolute correlations worthless and... useless for speculation.

I wouldn't say they've always been greedy, considering that 2 MD's started it up.

What other reason was there to make ME2 a shooter?  People really liked ME1 and it wasn't until BioWare were like, "Hey guys, ME1 sucked" that people started denouncing ME1 as this awful abomination.  There really was no reason to change it other than the obvious correlation between money and shooters.

Hun, they VISITED Bioware last month, like many other gaming outlets. Time to face the truth, it's MP and it's coming.
