Here's a gem of a thread on the BF UK site titled: "Letter to Dice: Why your community is upset."

Any bets on when we'll see similar threads popping up here?

If the DA2 forums are any indication we will be drowning in them for at least the next year. Not to mention all the ones that will be directly addressed to Casey Hudson etc.

This site never lies.

They're citing the same source we've been discussing this whole time, so what that site does or does not do is irrelevant.

Hun, they VISITED Bioware last month, like many other gaming outlets. Time to face the truth, it's MP and it's coming.

And it sounds like it rocks!

It's not competitive PvP multiplayer for christ sakes, it's fun with friends. The people pissed off must not have any.

Do we know for a fact it's co-op? I'm not negating it isn't, it¡'s just that I haven't seen evidence either way.

People are basing that on the magazine cover which says "Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!" So no, not known for a fact, but it's the most reasonable interpretation.

So...bioware still is silent on this? I would not mind coop, I would like playing with my buddy, he is the one who got me into mass effect in the first place.

Seems like this coop will be icing on the cake, for me anyway.

I have to find a better analogy, since I do not eat cake.

As long as Bioware didn't sacrifice anything in the SP development to make the MP (e.g. if they weren't told to fit everything onto no more than x number of discs), I don't really see a problem - I wouldn't be surprised if they got an extra team to focus on it. Plus they were given extra time to make the game.

Surely you have SOME friends.. right?

Some people don't like playing video games with their friends.
Also some people don't like playing video games they can't play with their friends.
It would be good of everyone to keep these two facts in mind.

Not that anyone will actually consider it, but still, it's worth repeating.

bioware havnt confimed this yet so its still rumor this could be magazines desperately trying to boost their sales, remember photoshop!

They shopped their own cover?  Or are we going to assume that some nefarious hacker trolls defaced their website?

i think it was done in photoshop or another programme like it remember nothing is certain until Bioware confirms:police:

No offense, but that makes ZERO sense.

Right, but correlation is correlation.  And correlation is useful in speculation.

Sure, if you draw useful or revealing correlations.

BioWare is and always has been greedy too, or they wouldn't have taken EA's money.  But they're a for-profit company, holding it against them (or EA) is like admonishing a crippled guy for hogging the wheelchair.

Your other observations - such as the implication that EA forced BioWare to make ME2 "more shootery" and if they did, only because they thought it would make more money - would stand up to about five minutes of scrutiny, at least to the extent that other possibilities can reasonably inferred to be true, thus rendering your absolute correlations worthless and... useless for speculation.

I wouldn't say they've always been greedy, considering that 2 MD's started it up.

What other reason was there to make ME2 a shooter?  People really liked ME1 and it wasn't until BioWare were like, "Hey guys, ME1 sucked" that people started denouncing ME1 as this awful abomination.  There really was no reason to change it other than the obvious correlation between money and shooters.

No, people were talking about things they hated about the game the first day it was released.

Lol deny deny deny OOPS WE LIED!

Find even 1 quote when anyone from BioWare says "there will be no multiplayer of any kind in ME3". That's right, there's none because they never explictly denied it.

Yay, quality time with my friends. Now I haven't played the game so I don't know if the multiplayer will be a good thing, but I also don't know if it will be a bad thing. Sure, the track record for single-player franchises turned multiplayer hasn't been the most smooth, but I think we're all ignoring the big picture; Friends. Imagine playing Dungeouns & Dragons by yourself, suddenly not as fun is it?

I'm not going to hold my breathe or claim that Bioware has commited a betrayal, I'm instead going to lol at all the whining on this forum with my popcorn at my side.

Oh my god, Multiplayer?!? An overly vague term that does not go into detail about what exactly is being added on to the game?!? "Confirmed" on an unverified image of a magazine to which we dont know if its been edited?!? OH MY GOD!!!!!

THIS IS GOING TO RUIN MASS EFFECT FOREVER!!1111! I mean sure the last two Mass Effect games were near perfect and BioWare did excellent jobs with them, but it sounds like they are just going to ruin the very last game in the Shepard trilogy!! Story will suck now!! WHy bother??? Cancelling preorder!

"Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!" By the statement there I'd say coop campaign.

Difficult to implement, not impossible.

Some of you guys are actually in denial about multiplayer? Seriously? Think about this for a moment: if there was no multiplayer, would the Bioware mods let this thread go on for fifteen pages? You'd probably get a "This is an unfounded rumor" reply and a swift thread lock. It's how things work here in BSN.

I made a profile just so I could rage... WHHHYYY!!! I am trying to be open minded about this but it is so hard when the idea seems so dumb... I never once thought this game would be better with any from of MP. A horde mode, a co-op mode, even just leader boards would be weird! I swear soon we are going to be seeing...... The next elder scrolls game with MP. And that may seem ridiculous now but if some one had said the third game of mass effect would have MP, i would have laughed at first, then really thought about it... ARRGGHH. But yes, Xbox Daily News is amazing. I am still crossing my fingers that it is not real...

I'm as old school a BioWare fan as any who posts here, and I preferred the gameplay of Mass Effect 2 by such a wide margin you could drive the MAKO through it.

Story on the other hand, well... we're not talking about that now.

Unless they thought it made the game better, and since I consider myself a reasonable person and feel this way, then it's logical to assume they were so motivated.  In short:  I saw what they did there, and appreciated it.

There's a difference between normal business operations and what EA do.  EA buy the **** out of everything and do as much as they can to monopolize every genre they can.  See: Madden, mainly.  In 10 years look at MMO's, shooters, every sports game, racing games, RPG's, etc.

Nope, not buying it - you'll have to do better.  Madden and other sports games are released yearly because sports leagues have seasons, and there's only so much innovating you can do on a mandatory one-year development cycle.  Think about these things before you parrot the LOLMADDEN line.

You also conveniently failed to mention NBA Elite 11, which EA Sports cancelled because it was garbage and 2k Sports put out what was not only a better product by far, but one of the consensus best sports games ever made.  Their professional and creative standards simply didn't allow them to release NBA Elite, because it would harm their brand.  But because they didn't bother trying to get any money back for their disaster in sales, that entire project was a loss.

I'm not saying what happened is typical for EA, but to leave it out of any discussion regarding how EA works is to betray your agenda.

Juztinb42 wrote...

Whenever a company sells PC games for $59.99 I think it's a pretty safe bet to say they've joined the greed machine.

I honestly don't blame the industry for that.  Since when is it reasonable for consumers to expect things will always be the same price?

Oh, right.  Never.

Sorry I didn't make my point about Madden clear enough, EA recently bought out the exclusive rights to all NFL games.  They also own the right to NCAA football as well I believe.

Oh wow they canceled a single game.  That's a step in the right direction (75% joke).

Until console games are $69.99 you have to blame the companies, not inflation or whatever you want to pin it on.

Co-op = some of win

DEATHMATCH!?!1!!1! = lots of fail

Spending all that money and time on single player = all the win

We'll see how it goes. I hope it's fun.
