Why do the devs do things like "confirm" that theres no multiplayer and then a magazine apparently announces it a few months later? Why cant they just say its in limbo?
They're drama queens.

They never confirmed there's no multiplayer in ME3.OSUfan12121 wrote...

This thread is pretty interesting to watch though. On one hand you have the people who express their lack of desire for multiplayer in a calm method and people who seem like they are getting ready to firebomb bioware HQ.
On the other hand you have the people who support multiplayer and are calmly stating how they are not opposed to it being introduced. However you also have people on this side who seem to be going out of their way to act like ****s.I don't know about yours, but mine are. Yeah, thats why I imagine any MP would be co-op in nature. The magazine does say play with your friends (giggity), which suggests co-op - and there were those rumours of co-op missions that were seperate to the SP. I think that would be ideal.AlphaJarmel wrote...

Hmm, I don't think it was quite there in ME2. I mean, it was good in ME2 but I don't think it was smooth enough for online gameplay, particularly anything competitive. Cover in particular wasn't good enough in ME2.AlphaJarmel wrote...

I didn't mean stuff like powers, I just meant the basic underlying TPS gameplay - basically the shooting and the cover system. If Bioware think they've nailed that, then that is a good sign.AlphaJarmel wrote...

Just a thought - if Bioware feels that ME3's gameplay is good enough to work in MP, of any kind, that implies that the gameplay has been substantially improved since ME2. This is a good thing.
There would have to be serious improvements to multiple aspects for the multiplayer to work. First they would have to change the physics of biotics such as lift to have an impact on the players themselves. Second they would have to change the time dilation effect. Third, they would have to do serious balancing to the classes otherwise Vanguards will be unbelievably broken.
The underlying TPS gameplay was good enough for a MP in 2. The problem is with everything else which is what makes a ME game, a ME game.
I agree, it certainly wouldn't be at the top of the MP games but I thought it would be passable in regards to overall quality and I'm sure they tweaked and smoothed the hell out of it for ME3. The problem is with everything else in regards to combat which is why if competitive multiplayer is in(which I somewhat doubt), it would have to be substantially different compared to the single player.

Funny how months ago Bioware said that there will be no multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, funny how bioware thinks that it's okay to lie to us.

Here is an example of a zots argument that is invented speculation presented as a reasonable conclusion. People will take it seriously and quote it as being truth.
Ohei: You don't have a clue how EA/BioWare's budget for Mass Effect 3 works. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. So why do people make these arguments, let alone take them seriously?

They didn't. Unless you can find a quote when someone from BioWare says "there'll be no multiplayer of any kind in ME3".Foryou wrote...

You folks do realize that you don't have to play any of the multi-player stuff if you don't want to, right? It's not like you're going to load up ME3 and it will automatically thrust you into a deathmatch against your will.

Exactly. I am going to buy the game. I know people who I will play MP with. Either way, it impacts me less because simply I am invested in the story and I want to see how it ends. Its a product and a service Bioware is providing. They design, create and market with the masses in mind. Does that make it worse? No, its a direction they chose to go whether or not the online community agreed. Bioware is a company, they are doing this to make money. Pure and simple. If MP gets them more players that means they make more money. Ah, the smell of economics in the morning.Cosmon wrote...

Maybe they didn't think MP would be in several months ago - they may have been developing it and not liking it at the time. Notice how every other time MP has been brought up Bioware has been vague about it so as not to directly lie to the consumers.Foryou wrote...

Keep in mind that nothing "quoted" is 100% guaranteed. We are still developing the game and features change, we
adapt, refine and improve. Just because you think it is there now based off an old interview (or even a new one) that doesn't mean it will or will not be in the game.I only point this out so people don't say "But Isaw in a thread that "X" feature was confirmed". NOTHING is confirmed until we ship.

I'm personally not worried about the multiplayer aspect as long as the focus is primarily developing the single player and having a good story that's on par (or better) with the other games. Mass Effect 3 isn't the type of game that needs (or demands) multiplayer, but at least it'll allow BioWare to establish a framework for future titles. It's ridiculous to for people to become so angry as to "firebomb BioWare HQ" when they don't even know anything about the game yet. Just wait until it's released and then cast your judgment.

So you're saying "we listen" equates to "we'll do whatever we wnt, regardless of the fanbase's wishes"?
Because there was literally nobody campaigning for multiplayer, and there were (are) a lot of people strongly opposed to it.

I am afraid with Dragon Age 2 and Now multiplayer in Mass Effect, it seems Bioware have truly sold their soul and have completely changed form the company i use to love. Mass Effect 3 will be a rent from me now it has multiplayer. Bioware are continually going down the wrong route and completely abandoning the fanbase that has made them such a big name. Bioware you have let down your fans greatly.
