The very word 'Shepard' is going to be at least distantly familiar to enough moviegoers that it's an existing property capable of printing some money. No reason not to take advantage of that.

Hence why 'Reapers' and 'Normandy' may show up if nothing else.

That's what they're doing!  They just call that all-new protagonist "Shepard."  haha  Believe me, they have the freedom to do whatever they want with him.

Perhaps they are answering questions in the manner that is the most inflammatory while still being believable, just to see what kind of reactions they can get from the fan-base, while secretly the project is moving is a completely different direction.

I'd say the odds of that happening are not-at-all-surprisingly nil but it would be a very rad twist if true.

My guess it's a cheap move to get more people interested enough to try out the games afterward. In any event, I was never interested in this movie to begin with. I know what Mass Effect is, and it doesn't belong to Hollywood.

I don't actually think he's a bad actor.  I love Farscape, but with your profile pic I couldn't resist the jab.

And actually, I would be completely down with a 46 year old Browder playing a seasoned N7 commander.

As for the hot female lead, Claudia Black would be... terrific. But she's also too old at this point, I'd imagine, and more importantly like Ben Browder she's deemed a 'television actor' -- they're going to want 'movie actors' for the lead roles.
