Legendary is behind this, isn't it? Those movies get made with such regularity because they're RIDICULOUSLY cheap to produce and deliver profitable ratings as per their cost. The production values are not going to be that bad, regardless of how good the rest of the movie ends up being.

Think ME fans can b!tch loud enough that it gets taken note of? At least then people may know that while the developers of the game might be sellouts, and the movie is a POS, the game is alright.

"SciFi" is too nerdy. and doesn't encompass all the bad reality TV programming they want to crap up the cable networks with!

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. While I'm disappointed at not having Seth Green as Joker, there is a lot of good material in Shepard's potential backgrounds that could be made into full blown movies. The sole survivor story is basically Aliens. The war hero story could be a sci-fi version of Enemy at the Gate. The ruthless story, especially when combined with the colonist background, could make for a heart-wrenching character-driven plot.

But seriously... have Seth Green get a bit of a tan, give him a beard and brown hair and you have Joker to a spade. Of all the characters, he's definitely one that should be there.

Yeah, why why WHY use Shepard in the movie at all?
Wasn't their big idea always to spawn other awesomeness-es out of the ME universe via the game/s? and keep Shepard untainted within the trilogy?

Never mind the fact that game movies almost always result in horrible deaths of the soul (best way I could think to describe it) not optimistic about this one, but of course hopeful :/

Of course have any of you stopped to think that Seth Green may not even want to be in the Mass Effect movie anyway? (as horrible as that sounds)

This is potentially true. Seth Green probably has enough experience to know to stay the hell away from this idiocy.

Dunno why you guys are so hung up over Seth Green not being in it. Not once did they even say that Joker would even be in the movie to begin with. Chances are he won't be, and thus no need for Seth.

Bringing Shepard into it is a much bigger deal because its going to destroy all the personalization everyone has put into their own Shepards which Mass Effect has gone so far to promote (arguably its largest feature) and create an official canon Shepard. That or the movie will be "alternate universe" rubbish that wont be intended to have anything to do with the games/novels/comics intertwined story. But if that's the case then the movie is pointless to begin with.

Come on Bioware, can't you come up with a new protagonist for the movie? At the very least focus it around one of the other main characters, like Anders or TIM.

We have different attitudes regarding how much value to put on official cannon when playing a game. I don't particularly care if the make Revan a lightside male 'officially'. I still enjoy playing KotOR with a dark-side female.

Shepard being the main character makes me lose all interest in this movie.

Either his character wont be explored properly making it a poor film or it will be explored (beyond just saying which backstory he has, as in his actual personality) in which case irratating canon is made.

Edit: I was hoping for a movie set in the mass effect universe based on other events with different main characters, alas.

Great, so they have the whole ME universe to work with, the entire galaxy, multiple timelines and different races and stories to use, and they just have to make it about Shepard. It would have been refreshing to see something else in the ME universe, and to explore different stories, instead its more of the same characters, not to mention they just give the finger to every player whos Shep isnt like the one they will canonize for the film.
