You're on the Mass Effect 3 forums, what do you expect people are going to say?

OT: My most anticipated game is ME3, big surprise, right?

The Last Guardian will be sweet. This forum's majority never strike me as the biggest Japanese gaming crowd though, you know? A lot of them got into Mass Effect because it looked like another great Western shooter. Nothing wrong with that but they aren't the sort who will go digging up information on a game like The Last Guardian all the time.

... Battlefield 3 is starting to grow on me however... Would probably be 6th on my list.

Funny you should say that, considering a good few posts have the game somewhere other than the top of their list.

The two main games on my "This is important to get" list are ME3 and Skyrim. I'm itching more for ME3, but that anticipation is more for reasons outside of the game itself. Skyrim is still going to be a gamegasm though.

Oooh, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Metal Gear Rising. Forgot about those. They definitely need to be on my list. And when is Versus XIII coming out? Does anyone know?

Heh, therein lies the problem. Both games have been really hush-hush... and anyone who knows about Versus XIII will easily say it's been in development for way too long already. There's still no say-so on when it will be released but hopefully once XIII-2 is out they'll start pushing it.... finally!

Yeah, it's kind of a tough gen for us Japanese gaming fans, eh. 

Yeah, tough sleding this gen. Especially since XIII wasn't that great. Oh well, XIII-2 will have to suffice in the mean time. It will at least be better than XIII...I think...I hope.

I really am more stoked for Zelda than Skyrim. I probably won't buy the latter until it hits GOTY, beautiful as it looks. I've just had limited success with enjoying WRPGs.

Never got very far in Fallout 3, so I have no idea what the companions are like. But when I said companions, I was meaning something like Bioware's. They stick with you the whole time (for the most part), you assemble a team, and they actually have plot relevance.

I thought you might have meant companions in the ME sense, but I figured I'd mention it. No, in F3 you can have one person (on console) and a dog follow you and help you fight. Nothing terribly deep.

Yeah, I dunno about XIII-2. I honestly wouldn't even purchase it if my girlfriend weren't a bit more impressed with XIII than I was. So technically she's purchasing it even if it is our pool of money. So I guess I'll watch her play and may or may not start a file. >_>

My problem with Japanese games (particularly the RPGs) is that I can never relate to any of the characters nor bring myself to care about them in any meaningful way.  Looking back, there was a definite point where those types of games were not only insanely original, but their kinds of stories just flatly not even explored.  Now, however, they've stayed relatively static while western games have continued to strive to become more like interactive movies where their stories could actually stand on their own.  I feel that western games, rpg's in particular, have gotten much better at being true "choose your own adventures" while japanese games come off as fanservice.

*disclaimer: not all games are this way, obviously, so don't blast me with your niche favorite that I probably would not have ever heard of.

I have no intention of'blasting' you with anything, and I do agree that as a whole JRPGs have really grown stale. But the so-called 'golden age' of Squaresoft in the 90s (and by extension several other companies from around that period) really did crank out some aces.

I don't consider Xenogears niche enough not to mention. But more importantly, allegedly overrated hits like Final Fantasy VII really do have casts I can relate to so it's unfortunate you don't feel similarly. At least you've found the Western genre!

EDIT: Seems like I left a few out. The others in no particular order, but wanted equally are Borderlands 2, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Versus XIII.

It's kinda funny, I haven't met a guy yet that was interested in XIII-2. One of my guy friends said XIII looked a little like a girl's game. XIII-2 totally looks like a girl's game.

Mass Effect 3 and Halo 4 are the only games I care about.

Half Life 3 and Mechwarrior 5 will never be finished ever. No point in hoping for them.

Well a good number have it at the top of their list and even for those where it isn't at the very top most still have it in their top 3 to 5.  For me it is easily number one because the reapers are finaly here.
