Just found this link to a comic based on the gold-box games.  Enjoy!

That looks suspiciously like the Mulmaster Beholder Corps!

Yes, I've seen this before. Some good stuff in there.

Arrrgggg...code wheels. I remember some games that had them. Can't recall gold boxes having them. I thought they were all "go to journal entry 17 word number 33". And people think leaving the disk in the drive is a pain.

foil- the first two: Pools of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds had code wheels. From then on, there were references to Page 12 of the Adventurer's Manual, the 3rd paragraph, what is the first word of the first sentence?

I honestly preferred the code wheel. It prevented me from Adventurer's Journal Spoilers. It was a lot easier to spin the code wheel (one I attached a small paper grip on the outside wheel with glue) than it was to thumb through the manual and hopefully interpret their directions properly.

Pool of Radiance had a code wheel. I think it's still arond somewhere... I think Secret of the Silver Blades had the journal entry thing.

lol...
I don't remember that at all. I can recall some baseball games with codewheels, but my memory fails me on PoR and Silver Blades.
