I love the non-mage human origin, but want to earn that particular a companion not have one handed me.

Nope. Edited to remove spoiler. Suffice to say that the quest line requires you finish one thing before you can advance to the next thing.
And next time you want a spoiler you should ask it in the storyline forum where spoilers are not forbidden.

Dog is not a spoiler.
Also you cant avoid not getting him for a Human Noble. If you know anything about the history and lore of Ferelden you would know why a Noble House like yours is given a Mabari.
The quest in the main game to get him for everyone else takes less then a couple minutes to do as well. I dont see how you "Earn" him?

By doing "The Mabari Hound" Quest while not being a noble. But thanks anyway.

You mean the quest that has you walk like 2 minutes to pick a flower and then walk back and turn it in?
I fail to see how thats "Earning" the Mabari.
There is a point you seem to be missing about you being a noble and being given a very prime specimen of a Mabari hound.
