To be fair, not everyone has watched Spongebob (like me) or Star Wars (they exist).
Calling someone a sponge can very easily be taken in a non-literal way (eg. sponging off one's friends/parents), and thus taken seriously. I didn't catch on something was up until the OP mentioned 'Gary' in a following post, and I still didn't know it was a Spongebob reference.

I never did like SpongeBob all that much, so I rarely ever watched it.

Yeah plus a cop cut his head off, my dad I mean, then another cop raped my wife, and I killed him, took up a job being a bounty hunter, My daughter keeps trying to kill me, now my grand daughter. Then thanks to your friend I'm coverd in hideous scares, Oh yes and your gang stole my ship, which I had to steal back after my other ship got shot down...and your friend almost killed me twice, oh yeah and I can't go to the world I run as a Virus is there that will kill me on contact now...so yeah..
