Hawke couldn't stop the war from starting, so how can Hawke end it? The potential is already wasted.

I never said hawke was ending anything, I meant if the war last 20 years the warden will be a ghoul or dead and hawke will be 50+ years. The seeker wants hawke ( champion) or the warden( hero) to help stop the war but it won't happen that easily with my hawke's or warden's, none of them want the chantry on Power or seen mages suffering under the templars watch. Yes mages can be dangerous, so are templars to mages.

I have no clue how the writers are going to continue this war, they'll probably ignore it by next DA and thats that lol! or all the mages suddenly turn into demons and need to be killed or  mages are slaughter on site.:?

I already know none of this character's story is going to be told from top to bottom, thats why the need for new hero's.

LOL  this is the funniest post I've seen on these forums.  JohnEpler is the most over benevolent moderator/Bio employee there is.  It's a flat out miracle he has skin thick enough to stay tuned into these forums.  Anyone that complains about tough moderation, double standards and such on these forums is totally out to lunch.  BioWare should be locking double the number of topics they lock, banning twice the number of people they ban and bringing the hammer down in the form of tough moderation.  They have bent over so far to 'let people have their say' that they are suffering from the old 'give em an inch and they'll take a mile scenario.

Old style moderation was much better because although the odd time threads got locked that looked like bad things said about games were being censored it also got rid of a huge volume of pure and utter garbage threads and posts that litter forms.

No, not even with my favorites npc's as the characters. I never played Leliana's song. As I was not willing to play da:o without some warden, similary I am not willing to play da2 without Hawke.

Same here, I do not want to play as a companion, The story is about Hawke.

In my view it's just a story with Hawke as eye witness, passive and -at best- reactionary, it's not their story, but the story of events in Kirkwall seen through Hawke's eyes.

Besides, Leliana's Song was - for me - by far the best DA:O DLC. And since Leliana is part of DA:O, DA2 and very likely DA3 you can argue she is a more important person in Thedas compared to the one game protagonists, Warden and Hawke.

I know what you mean..., but I had the impression that DA2 was more the story of Kirkwall. I never felt that Hawke's story was taken seriously by the game (when it tries..., well, all of us know what happens to leandra ^_^u).

All the more reason for the DLC to try and get it right.:)

That doesn't matter. She isn't one of my characters so I don't want to play as her.

Yes i know.. is really something.. hehe but still i rather play as hawke than any companion, not even isabela or fenris, if something is about them, let them ask hawke for help. What everyone forget is Hawke is not heroic type of character, not one wanted to be a hero or save the world  last year.. it was BORING.<_<  Hawke story is NOT to save THE world..  Pff ironic isn't? of how they ask for a hero now.. /laugh in real life.

I have to say by playing the Dragon age 2, as hawke in many ways like mage , warroir or rouge or as male or female. it seem to keep changing. I also know playing dragon age origin part 1 i finshed it an the kinda finished the second part. things change a littie the out come in dragon age 2,.. which i like. but the story seem to be heading to a big war or somthing... i wonder if i get to use my hero from the frist dragon age or still be hawk. what i am saying if u beat the game with a warror an side with the templars they want u to rule or somthing. an if u side with the mages idk i guess i control the mages or somthing... but what really got me messed up is hawk let his sister die or better yet killed her. i played him as a rouge is that a bug in the game? so pretty much hawk don't have any family just him alone. they need to come up with somthing. i beat legacy. they showed me a draker side of the wardens of what my frist guy did in dragon age orgin 1 an 2. from deal with the darkpown.

You do of course realize that AIDS only occured in the REAL WORLD within the last hundred years due to a mutation in a disease that already existed in similar primates. I didn't see your first comment but I'm going to assume it had something to do with Anders or Hawke or homosexuality and also note that homosexuality existed long before AIDS, being a prominent cultural staple in the Roman Empire, and only being "taboo" because of the original formation of the catholic church(saying nothing of any current day religions)

In regards to the topic at hand, Hawke won't be the main character in whatever DA3 there is but like Shepard I enjoy my Hawkes as I set them up. Regardless though, I don't see Origins making a return as Bioware(as well as I) seem to prefer a more fixed character in exchange for the benefits that a speaking character have(Not being permenantly rapefaced comes to mind). Regardless, Hawke is welcome until Bioware has finished their story. It won't end with the end of the uprising but you can be sure that regardless of your choices, at least one of the divines will want to have a word with you.

Well anything related to DA2 should have Hawke in it, but in DA3, I wouldn't mind seeing a new character in a new place. Thedas is a big place and its good to see the universe approached from a number of different angles, the origins did not do a very good job of that. I am a fan of Hawke and a fleshed out protagonist, I would actually like to see them add more depth to the PC in DA3.

Dude, you're right man.  Moderation should be Anders style!  We all agree or Anders will burn your rhetorical thread down, salt your computer and move his bowels all over your hard drive!  Mobilize and organize!  Down with dissension!

DA 2 DLC is targeted for those who like DA 2 and have no problem role-playing Hawke as their character. I think it should be fair to let Hawke continue to be main protagonist.

But if Hawke ( or new set character with preset personality and no ability to shape multiple stories ) continue to be the main protagonist in DA 3, then... I wish BioWare good luck. I only play cRPG format and/or toolset.

I honestly think they should bring back origins, but not race choice. I know there will be raging, but i'm willing to be my house that the majority of Origins players first played a human. It's a familiar perspective on an unfamiliar world.

Bring in a few different back stories to these humans (Commoner, Noble, Orlesian etc.) and i think this would be a great compromise. But thats just my opinion.

I understand the claims of the people who likes Hawke... and probably, if I liked the character, I would say similar things. But, apart form that, I see this progression to fixed characters as one of those things that negates crpg roots. Fixed protagonists with deep story behind them are much more close to the jrpg roots (not exclusively, that's right). I don't say DA2 is like that, but for me, points a new way to complete fixed protagonists with potential great backgrounds.

Hawke isn't a fixed character any more than say a Cousland warden was. I've got 5 Hawke's all quite different in personality.

Yeah Cousland you say. But in DAO you have :
Cousland
Amell
Aeducan
Brosca
Tabris
Mahariel

And in DA2 you have ... ... yep you have Hawke and that is all.

oh woopie doo xkg you can choose from 6 different surnames how exciting........not the Warden is still fixed as you still must become a grey warden regardless of you race or social standing it makes no differance
