A thought on Ashely's new hair style

On the one hand I like Ashley's new look because it's stylish and sexy, but on the other hand I also don't because it doesn't make sense for her to be wearing it. It's very complicated.
All that I do know is that I'm hoping Ashley will be able to have armor like they promised, but if worse comes to worse and Ashley doesn't get to wear armor and this outfit is all she'll have ultimatley I can live with it. It will be very dissapointing and will make me sad but I like Ashley enough that I can get over her appearance change.
If nothing else I have waited almost two years to see Ashley back and I'm not about to give up now.

Exposed clevage? I've seen no such thing.jeweledleah wrote...
what sort of strategy would require her to go into combat with exposed cleavage, hair in her face and heels?

Apparently some people don't know the meaning of the words "exposed" and "cleavage."jreezy wrote...

That or they think wild hyperbole actually bolsters their argument.

You can ram your head in the sand as much as you want but this is one of her combat oufits.LGTX wrote...
That's not an "evidence" of anything. You haven't played the game. The only "evidence" we have as of now (including her announced but not-yet shown armor variant) points to that being her formal attire.
So you believe the Collector's Edition has a reskin of Vega's armor, a reskin of Kaidan's armor, a reskin of Liara's armor and yet Ash gets a reskin of her casual outfit?Collector's Editions can reskin combat armors, or they can reskin casual outfits, or maybe even fingernail colors.

I don't mind her hair being down, in fact, I actually quite like it. I just hope that whoever replaces Chris L'Etoile, does her character justice.
This. I'm not sure about her new look, but it's something that can be modded if absolutely neccessary. The writing can not.

Yeah, and in the demo of the Earth stage at the end we see Vega in his armor and Ash in that dopey outfit.

Can you see any of yourself in the game ideas, or in the gameplay mechanics?
Oh, yes. So I'm not going to take credit because this is Adrian's baby. But, a lot of the core story ideas (which we haven't talked about yet) came from me, Adrian, and Rick Remender being locked in a room for a week. So a lot of those ideas, Trischka's character is very much a product of me because I wanted a strong female character that wasn't stereotypically hot. But still, obviously had a way about her that implied sexiness. You know, [sarcastically] the fight for boob size was an awesome one. It was probably a week of back and forth, like…
From B to D cup?
It was everything imaginable. It was width. It was the cleavage showing. It was height, from top to bottom. It was the level of bounciness. It was all of that. I'm in Adrian's office, like, "Adrian, come on. No! Are you crazy? Trishka, she's our badass. She's going kick your ass and take no prisoners! She's sexy because she has the confidence. She doesn't need to have giant breasts!" Adrian is like, "She's so hot, she needs to have a giant rack. I love chicks in video games that have giant boobs." I could see his face was kind of sad. I think we came to a good middle ground. He genuinely wanted what he considers the most beautiful looking woman in the game. What I wanted is a believable, strong, not-stereotypical fighter chick.
And that's the reason why it is mandatory for women to look hot in video games, the reason for boob armor, chainmail bikinis, etc. Don't bother handwaving, this is all there is to it.

Two thoughts related to Ash's new look. She is a soldier, I need her hair to be out of her eyes in combat. I can accept that she might not have been combat ready in the trailer and so her hair got in the way. I could even hear her muttering to herself about "Why the H@ll didn't I think to tie up my hair!" Second, and not about her hair, I hope her armour can be changed to tone down her breasts. If those were there all along, she must have been strapping them down in ME1. Another thought on her hair; I do hope it will move in ME3. My femShep is ready to run her hand through it.

It pisses you off because he is right and you know it (no pun intended). For some reason, this post pisses me off.
There's no real reason to add sex appeal to Ashley UNLESS they want her to rival someone like Miranda with her appearance.

No. I'm spiteful that way.
Besides, someone may actually come up with a mod to give her one of those armors........
I don't use mods in my games, and not just because I play on the xbox
PC player here.
I can't play ME2 anymore without using a mod for Samara's armor. Well, not while she's a squadmate anyway. The same was true for Miranda before AAP2. Here's hoping Ash doesn't end up the same.
Ashley has armor in addition to her more casual outfit that we haven't seen yet.

The trailer demonstrates it, the hair falls across her face, and can easily obscure her eyes. In a gunfight that's neiother practical nor atttractive.
Where and in which trailer is this shown?

It is in one of the E3 walkthroughs with Casey Hudson at very end, just right after shep jump's in Normandy, you might have to pause it and go frame-by-frame.

That explains it. I must have missed that E3 walkthrough if it was shown on Spike TV.

they didn't exactly have time to get into real armor for that stage, and Vega is in armor because he is Shepard's guardSeboist wrote...

People still keep complaning about the armor that's just for the game story wise once your barrier is down you get dead if you get hit no matter what your wearing be it a g-string or heavy armor stops everything but a straight shot.
Not true. Read the Codex: the armor is there because kinetic barriers aren't perfect. Stuff sometimes slips through, if at greatly reduced velocity. If you're wearing armor, you'll probably live. If not, then you've got problems. Also, the armor is there to protect against extreme heat and cold, toxic atmospheres, and vacuum. Lastly, it's there to deal with stuff that won't trigger the barrier: melee strikes, blades, falls, bites, etc.
