I've said before that I really can't decide where I stand on Ashley's new design, being torn between being just so damn happy to see her back and being annoyed that they altered her design as much as they did.
On the one hand I like Ashley's new look because it's stylish and sexy, but on the other hand I also don't because it doesn't make sense for her to be wearing it. It's very complicated.

All that I do know is that I'm hoping Ashley will be able to have armor like they promised, but if worse comes to worse and Ashley doesn't get to wear armor and this outfit is all she'll have ultimatley I can live with it. It will be very dissapointing and will make me sad but I like Ashley enough that I can get over her appearance change.
If nothing else I have waited almost two years to see Ashley back and I'm not about to give up now.

While I am glad that Ash is back, this change makes me wonder if Ash is, well, "Ash". The ME1 version struck me as a person who worked hard and played hard, but knew not to mix the two.  This ME3 version.  I don't know.  SHE doesn't seem...practical.

People still keep complaning about the armor that's just for the game story wise once your barrier is down you get dead if you get hit no matter what your wearing be it a g-string or heavy armor stops everything but a straight shot.

Not true.  Read the Codex: the armor is there because kinetic barriers aren't perfect.  Stuff sometimes slips through, if at greatly reduced velocity.  If you're wearing armor, you'll probably live.  If not, then you've got problems.  Also, the armor is there to protect against extreme heat and cold, toxic atmospheres, and vacuum.  Lastly, it's there to deal with stuff that won't trigger the barrier: melee strikes, blades, falls, bites, etc.

People are complex. We've only seen a snapshot of Ash's personality. I have no problem with seeing her with different style's and learning more about her.

Right. And what do you think space-spandex can hope to stop if the barrier is down? The answer is nothing, short of slow-moving shrapnel, maybe.

I can't believe that people care so much about her hair. (except for the female members here)

It's just hair.

But it isn't just hair; it's her personality. Ash's personality in the first game was to be completely combat-ready, to the point of wearing her hair in a bun and wearing heavy armor. The fact that that has changed suggests smething very upsetting has happened to her personality (as people DON'T change their personality that much after their already around 27-28, as much as some would like to believe) or that Bioware has deliberately sexualized her in an attempt to please the more visual fans.

Yes, something has changed. Since Horizon, she got laid off and has now been forced to sell herself at a run-down club to support herself.

That explains it. I must have missed that E3 walkthrough if it was shown on Spike TV.

At the very end, around 5:15.  The one-eyed woman in blue is Ash :o

That doesn't look bad at all, the sleek and sexy armor.
Besides, all Shepard has on is some kind of bullet proof vest it seems (He's oversexualized now!) so that lend credence to the theory that she is wearing that because she wasn't expecting a combat situation to go down.

It was part of her cover to infiltrate a criminal organization.

Of course, Volberus. The secret organization behind the upcoming Elcor revolt, right?

So where's Kaidan's sleek and sexy armor?  Why doesn't his shining plate get a V-neck and garters? :P

As to not expecting a combat situation, like, say, Miranda on Lazarus station?  Or Jacob?  Bioware's got this obsession with "iconic looks" now.  I think we're going to find costume changes (like Aveline in Lothering) to be a rarity from here on out.  Which means in all probability, Ash's flowing locks and "sleek and sexy" look are not a noncombat or an alternate appearance.  She's expected to fight the Reapers in that.

We've seen ashley for all of a second and a half. people worry too quickly. I'll be the first to grab my pitchfork and torch when they murder her character but until I've actually seen evidence of it, I have to give bioware the benefit of the doubt when it comes to characters.

They're the reason I'm not worried. They know how much we hated that, they won't do it again.

Tell that to all the people who complained about lack of RPG features, and too much focus on combat, when every single thing we've seen on the game is almost nothing related to story and RPG, but is totally combat.

Give us proof that BW learned their lesson.
