A thought on Ashely's new hair style

I'd be very surprised if they have more than just the one hairstyle for her so to not use her because of her hair? I simply don't get that.

I think it was more that they were trying to give her a more of a military feel. Either way I really like the new hair.
I like both styles, especially when used in the right situations. In fact changing hair styles during the game in the right situations could add a lot of the atmosphere.
For example, lets say after a brutal battle (probably cutscene induced) Ashley, who's hair was in a bun comes out of it with dishevled hair. Partially undone from her bun, burn marks on her cheek, roughed up armor.
Then in contrast back on the normandy when she cleans herself up, hair down and out of said armor.
The contrast would be great, everyone gets to see sexy ashley without going down the blatant fanservice route, and we get added immersion.

Dare to dream. I mean it. This would be amazing. But that's not going to happen. It's never really been a possibility. I also wish about 75% of the game could be Ashley and Shepard related, lol. But alas....

Military family. You can't go a generation in my family without at least one in some branch of the military, mostly the air force.
One of the reasons initially like ashley, reminded me of my family. Some things I can suspend my belief on, but if ashley was military, especially with the kind of background she had, these new changes completely turn me off from her if not used right.
There is a time and place for sexy.
Edit: reworded to sound less creey

The design itself actually looks really nice. As in, if I were a Super Space Spy, I'd totally wear it. But I'm still not sure if it fits with Ash... So long as she hasn't girlied up in other areas, I'll shut up and pretend I never complained in the first place.Badpie wrote...

Now, I completely agree on this one: Not using a squadmate because they aren't dressed to your tastes is dumb. Samara's wearing heels and her boobs are hanging out, but she's still one of my favorite characters/squaddies. Same with Jack (as a character) and Miranda (as a squadmate).I'd be very surprised if they have more than just the one hairstyle for her so to not use her because of her hair? I thought he even went for the fringe implant.
Doesn't need to. His sideburns are competition enough for the turian.

Its not so much the look, but the context behind it. Ashley seems to have a lot of big changes, all happening after her writer leaves, coupled with the general "summer blockbuster" direction the ME series has taken... Its worrying.

Every Ash fan has shared these worries, but everything we've been hearing is pretty encouraging. I feel like most people are at least cautiously optimistic that they'll stay true to her character. And if they don't I'll be far more upset about that than a simple hairstyle.

Lots of big changes? So far we know she is a Spectre, which isn’t a huge thing. It’s sort of expected. Shepard is no longer the pride of the Alliance. They needed someone else to step in and represent humanity. The second thing is her hair and dress. Also, not surprising that after three years or so she changes looks. I change my look often and it doesn’t change who I am or what I stand for. I don’t understand why people think because she let her hair down or since she wears different armor, she is no longer Ashley. She has to be different because she looks different. That doesn’t make sense.
I say that people should wait and see how Ashley actually behaves, how she reacts and how she is portrayed in-game, rather than looking at two physical changes and assuming she is no longer the kick-ass soldier we love and respect.

Changes her looks? Off duty sure she would. But she is still a soldier, even as a spectre. (also its not three years, it a few months. She didn't seem to change from ME1 - 2. I don't get why people say three years) Once military always military, you never lose certain habits. My father never fully grew his hair back, my aunt keeps her hair in a pony tail during ceremonies, you get the idea. My aunt wears her hair down and isn't exactly a tom boy, but that doesn't mean she lost her soldier habits.
You are also forgetting this is a video game. A visual and interactive media. What they wear, how they wear it are big parts of their character. Just look at Zaeed, jack and thane respectively. Each of them looks the part they play. Zaeed has a blue suns tatooo, wear VERY worn armor and has a scarred and grizzled face. He is a badass grandpa with a lot of rage.
Aside from that, I AM waiting to see if Ashley changes,, however I am giving my feedback NOW. I don' like what they have shown so far, and I am hoping they show us alittle more. Fans asked to see armor, they said we would.... We are still waiting.
,But hey I will apologize to bioware in a thread
and kiss their asses until they lock it if it all turns out well.
However until then I am latching onto what I am
worrying about.

It has been a few years since ME1. I didn’t say she changed her looks throughout the three years. I said after three years she changed her looks. I understand your family is military, but it’s your family. Your family isn’t a fictional character written by someone who has an ideal of what they want Ashley to be in ME3. To base what you think Ashley should be based on your real life experience is a moot point. Anyone could make a point based off something in their life.
And you’re right--this is a video game. A visual and interactive media. Therefore, changing the visual prospective of someone isn’t uncommon in this field. Her face is the same. As far as we can assume, so will her persona be. As a visual media, this seems standard. I could name a few video game characters that have under gone huge changes physically, but not inwardly, from game to game.

According to Bioware Ashley isn't the tank anymore. Vega is the tank, Ashley is the damage dealer.

Well it's not clear, but they said Vega was "survivability" and Ash was "lethality." As soldier classes I'm sure they're both pretty tank worthy, but maybe Vega more so. .....So I guess actually that's pretty clear. Lol.

Thats the kicker right there. Ashleys writer left, so it is a "someone" doing this. Her changes happen after her writer leaves, after the new "blockbuster" direction Bioware is taking. So until I see proof otherwise, I am worried and I am assuming she has changed.
Glass half empty is the best approach mate. I don't get dissapointed.

Damage dealer? Ok I can deal with that. Ashley maybe a soldier but her armor was usually never as heavy as Vega. Hell Kaidan is probably as much as a tank as Garrus could be.Nashiktal wrote...

I guess I wouldn't be surprised then. Bioware doesn't seem to like armor much, unless they are a krogan. Just look at Garrus/

Thats where it gets confusing to me. Garrus is one of the most fragile characters in ME2. He'll die to a sneeze if he takes any fire. At the same time he is one of the few non krogan characters (shep doesn;'t count) that wears armor.
I guess its his insistance to where that broken armor of his?
