To be honest I could care less. As long as I can use her as my tank I'm good. If not I will be very very angry.

According to Bioware Ashley isn't the tank anymore. Vega is the tank, Ashley is the damage dealer.

Well it's not clear, but they said Vega was "survivability" and Ash was "lethality."  As soldier classes I'm sure they're both pretty tank worthy, but maybe Vega more so.  .....So I guess actually that's pretty clear.  Lol.

I guess I wouldn't be surprised then. Bioware doesn't seem to like armor much, unless they are a krogan.  Just look at Garrus/ :P

Lol that was first thing I noticed when I saw Garrus' new armor for ME3"wow does that look smaller"

Thats the kicker right there. Ashleys writer left, so it is a "someone" doing this. Her changes happen after her writer leaves, after the new "blockbuster" direction Bioware is taking. So until I see proof otherwise, I am worried and I am assuming she has changed.

Glass half empty is the best approach mate. I don't get dissapointed.

Lol Okay. I get it. I see your point. I do. She is a character you appreciate and like and you don’t want her messed with. I get that because I worry about that too. I worry that she will be portrayed as a anti-alien zealot. Which is why something as minute as hair and clothes seems extremely small in the scheme of things. However, I will wait to see how things go.

Heh, I see what your getting at too. I always wondered why people thought she was racist, her first time seeing so many aliens in one place, and with how strange some of them look its perfectly true to be unsure whether or not the thing you approach is intelligent or not.

Place a vorcha, a hanar, and a keeper side by side for the first time (hanar in a tank), and tell me which one you think is a creature from a space faring race?

She starts wearing lighter, less-protective gear as soon as she picks up her Spectre promotion? Why? Please don't say it's because she wants to "impress" Shepard; I think Twilight and reality TV have crapped on the art of drama for long enough.

Yeah, it irks me when people say she was “Racist” or “a bible-thumper”. It’s pure hyperbole. Mistrust does not equal hate and believing in a higher power does not make one a religious fanatic. As far as the comment, “I can’t tell the animals from the aliens.” or what ever it was: I think that was taken way out of context and it may be a comment anyone would make. Maybe not politically correct, but hardly racist. And the aliens do have animal characteristics. But, I guess this is another topic.

I really dig Ashley's new look it sets her apart from the other bland looking female humans and makes her look unique. I wasn't horribly crazy about her personality, but she was well written in ME1. I think it was a smart move for Bioware, maybe I'll go back and let her live.

It really depends on your idea of less protected. Its quite possible she wants to move fast since she is a soldier and carry more weapons and ordinance. Plus the Kinetic barrier generator in that armor is likely more powerful and is the main protection. Kaidan can sacrifice kinetic barrier strength for armor because he is a Sentinel. Plus he wouldn't be carrying as many weapons as a soldier.

I'm a fan of the new hair. Even in combat. I'm a fan of the whole new look as well as the old. To be honest it's not really that different.

The design itself actually looks really nice.  As in, if I were a Super Space Spy, I'd totally wear it.  But I'm still not sure if it fits with Ash...  So long as she hasn't girlied up in other areas, I'll shut up and pretend I never complained in the first place.

I'd be very surprised if they have more than just the one hairstyle for her so to not use her because of her hair? I simply don't get that.

Now, I completely agree on this one: Not using a squadmate because they aren't dressed to your tastes is dumb.  Samara's wearing heels and her boobs are hanging out, but she's still one of my favorite characters/squaddies.  Same with Jack (as a character) and Miranda (as a squadmate).

Sorry Cheez, Ash needed a little girlying up.  But as long as they keep her girlyfying (is that a word) physical and not personality wise , I'll be happy, I always dug her "I am one tough ****, but sorta vulnerable" mentality.  Ash looking more feminine is a good thing.

On most characters, I could understand this as a line of thinking. However, in Ashley's case it is directly contradictory to her attitude toward combat. I believe it is one of the elevator conversations where she states that she'd prefer thick armor and firepower to agility in a firefight.

If she had Tela Vasir's armor, or something along the same lines, I would be 100% in support of it, but from what we know right now, she's wearing less armor than Liara, which is out of character.

I miss her old look.  She was actually a female who looked attractive without being some adolescent fantasy.  As to her new look:  I just hope she gets to wear proper armor (like Kaidan's or Shepard's) and pulls her hair back.  Seriously, half her face was obscured during that Fall of Earth trailer.  Was she aiming that assault rifle with the Force?

I have heard good things about her character in ME3.  But until I actually start seeing evidence rather than vague assurances, I'm gonna be biting my nails here.

I liked Ashley better when she didn't look like a barbie doll. She was good when she was realistic.

What?  I thought the remark was a little sexist, so I swapped genders.

It was intended to be sexist.  Otherwise the joke wouldn't work.  Consider Ash's character... it is likely her self esteem isn't predicated on the approval or affection of Shepard.  So it is somewhat absurd that she would change her hair for the reason given.

you worry about loose hair...
... and I worry what to do with Tali vs Ash dillema as my Shep's gonna be between the devil and deep blue sea...

unless BW will allow to form a triangle ... which is unlikely ... there is no triangle with two obtuse angles...

Did you seriously just suggest that Miranda, Jack and Kasumi look bland? I think they all look very distinct, almost to the point of excess, or in Miranda's case, far beyond the point of excess.

The impression I'm getting here is that her self esteem is actually predicated by the approval and affection of her haters. So much for "chars are designed to be loved by some players but not all". So much for practicality, or for moderation.

Also, the new Ashley look actually makes her look more like the blatant fan-service outfits that the ME2 females were designed with.

I'm going to say that I'm not putting much faith in Creo's judgement on this topic.

I'm wondering if the art designers originally wanted Ash to have long hair but realised the engine couldn't do long hair. I was thinking that they decided to give her long hair not that the engine could support it so they could follow up on their original idea.

I'm pretty sure Ash was supposed to have even shorter hair than she had in ME1 judging by concept art I've seen in ''The art of Mass effect'' art book, although later concepts had her hair how it is now or medium length. I like them all tbh.

With short hair

Medium length

Long length, how it is but not down or in a bun, it's in a ponytail:

I think Bioware gave her long hair becuase alot of fans really wanted to see what Ash was like when she let her hair down, the fact the engine is imrpoved probably helped.

Honestly I find it pathetic that some people think she looks like Miranda with her hair down, they must think every women with their hair down look the same no matter what race they are even, seeing as Ash appears to be mixed race or hispanic whilst Miranda is caucasian.

It's not a matter of them looking the same so much as becoming generic in their style. All the female squad-members in ME2 were suited up in latex catsuits, while when you encounter Ashley on Horizon, she is still wearing her military hard-suit.

I see, but if the argument is against her new outfit I dont think it matters much as Bioware have also confirmed Ash has a armor too. So the people who dislike it can keep her in armor.

Um, no, they weren't.  I'll give you Samara/Morinth because it's close enough, but Jack, Kasumi, and Tali were not in catsuits.  And yes, Tali and Kasumi's suits were formfitting, but so was Tali's suit in ME1, and Kasumi's isn't all that different.  Liara's Lair armor doesn't qualify either.

oooh wow, three examples out of how many human female npc's we run across through both games? Did I say Miranda, Jack or Kasumi look bland? Both of you are pulling bullsh*t out of your ass-- calm down.
