I have been trying to re-install ToB on my computer.. I had to uninstall, because whenever I equipped a weapon I was proficient with, it crashed... Now I have BG1 and BG2 installed again, but when I try to run the ToB installer, I get the error message that the program cannot run because of a compatibility issue with 64-bit.. To make matters worse, without ToB, I still get the problem that equiping a weapon causes my game to crash. I have been trying to get this to work for a long time, I just want to play!!

Are you on Windows or Mac? If Windows, is there a Compatibility mode.accessible in Windows Explorer? I hear that Windows 7 and Vista are apparently pretty bad with administrator priviliges. You might want to install outside of the Program Files directory.

yep win 7- x64. Installed outside the program files, and done in XP SP2 mode..

Compatibility mode would seem to be your only answer then.

Have you tried installing it in XPSP3 mode? or running the game directly from bgmain.exe - not the auto-run option (where the game starts when you out the disc in the drive...)? Have you tried right-clicking the bgmain.exe file and either running it in as admin or installing it as admin or both?

Also, even when you un-install the game, the windows registry might still contain files for the game. You'll need a program like CCleaner to clean it up...
