I remember being laughed out of the water by some bioware dude around here back when I suggested the W2 might be better than the upcoming Dragon Age 2 game.
But now that time has passed I think it's a universal acknowledgement by lovers of the RPG that not only is the Witcher 2 better, but Dragon Age 2 is awful.
I just picked the game up last week to give it a try (Blockbuster sends games through the mail now!), and Dragon Age 2 is about as bad as it gets. The graphics are worse, the story jumps around and doesn't feel at all epic, and the characters are boring. Bland. Poorly modeled, poorly acted, and overall just poor.
I feel bad saying these things as looking back I really did like many aspects of Origins. I think all I really disliked about that game were some of the insanely long dungeon crawls, but even then, I think I'll go back and play it.
The Witcher 2 on the other hand is a phenomenal game through its character development, great story, and the continual improvement of choice. Geralt is far more interesting than Hawke, of course Geralt was created by a novelist, a writer with a lot of talent, so it is probably hard to compete in that department.
I just can't understand how Dragon Age 2 fell so far down...except that it was a rush job maybe. Oh well, at least I didn't buy it.
What made the Witcher 2 so much better than Dragon Age 2?
