They werent originally from Par Vollen, which I think is the real question being asked in this thread. The Kossith landed on Par Vollen only 300 years ago.

Presumably some hitherto unknown continent since their whole coming from nowhere reeks of Spain and the conquistadores.

At first I figured they came from the east, beyond the Amaranthine Ocrean. but perhaps they came from the north beyond the Donarks.

Presumably some other continent. What I'm more interested in is why they left

The Arishok is no further equipped to explain where they are from then you are to understand. The Qun has spoken.

I bought a dragon age 2 guide that stated they sailed from a land far beyond the Boeric Ocean. They reached the shores of Par Vollen and immediately conquer the human territory. It also stated they were bronzed skinned. Cold spells really took them out.

The Thedas equivalent of Turkey

I fact I always suspected you could access their homeland by land travelling through the Uncharted territories, The Donnarks in the Anderfels to be specific. I think if you travelled north through the Donnarks you would reach the Qunari homeland in time

Wasn't the Qunari invasion stopped at Par Vollen? I seem to remember a few codexes saying so. That the Orlesian army, the Imperial Chantry and someone else stopped the Qunari in their tracks....And a few of them settled on Par Vollen....

To me, two interesting things should be asked:

1) Why did the Qunari sail from their homeland? Possibky because of -ehm- Blight?
2) Why did they leave again.....and leaving behind a small group of them...on Par Vollen...

The Codex mentions that the Qunari first arrived in Par Vollen, and after conquering it they attacked the rest of Thedas. They conquered Rivain, Seheron, most of Tevinter, Antiva and part of the Free Marches before humanity counterattacked. After 150 years they had pushed them back from everything except northern Rivian and Par Vollen and eventually signed a peace treaty. Since then, I think the Qunari have reconquered most of Seheron from Tevinter. We don't know if they were fleeing something worse back home or simply expanding to spread the Qun. The qunari don't seem to know much about the darkspawn so it was probaby not a Blight. I've personally gone back and forth wether they were fleeing or just migrating, they don't seem particuarly afraid of anything following them from what we know of them.

Maybe they got Qunari'd themselves in their own homeland. Would be ironic at least lol.

Somewhere in the Uncharted Terroritories beyond Thedas.

Most fantasy universes never have to go beyond the main setting area so anything could be possible.

Its possible the Qunari have been around for a very long time and are bigger than we think they are and have conquered many primitive and non primitive cultures along the way to Par Vollen (as to 'why haven't they invented electricity and advanced yet' that is kind of a silly question...are you going to ask the author of A Song Of Ice and Fire why they haven't advanced yet after thousands and thousands of years? Its fantasy fiction)

Hopefully the writers expand on this in the future.

I'd be interested in seeing what continent the Kossith may have come from, especially how the Kossith are the only race on Theadas with horns or similar physical characteristics (also being much taller and physically imposing than the other races). Perhaps they were chased to Par Vollen by a race of centaurs?

For all we know, the Kossith back home don't follow the Qun. Maybe the Qunari left their homeland because they were a minority culture seeking to expand.

They have never actually mentioned the continent name. But I think the reason the left may have something to do with the elves. Unless I'm mistaken, their disdain for elves has never been explained. Or maybe it was magic users. Which would explain the fear of magic and demons possessing mages. They did say that not even the Templars fully grasped how much of a threat they pose.I don't think that fear its just because of their war with Tevinter.

The Kossith don't "fear" mages like some kind of paranoia. They don't trust mages because they've been fighting Tevinter for a long time.

If they "hate" elves, then why does the Arishok let those elves join them in the end of act 2?

Has it been mentioned if Par Vollen is the "homeland" of the Kossith and not just a land that they've settled? There could be plenty more Kossith wherever they originally came from.

... A blight?  Bing! (lightbulb)  Why would The Maker only imprison the Old Gods in Thedas if the world gos beyond that?  Razikale became an Archdemon in the Kossith's homeland, then through the "DR"... Flemeth was born.
